Wilson, as "Grey's" resident Dr. Miranda Bailey

Chandra Wilson's going from no-nonsense chief resident physician on "Grey's Anatomy," to resident of nowhere in the November Hallmark Channel movie, "Accidental Friendship."

She plays a homeless woman who's befriended by a Los Angeles policewoman. "All of us are two steps away from being on the street," she said this morning.

Except maybe multi-talented Ben Vereen, who plays another homeless person in the made-for-TV flick. Vereen, a TV acting legend as Chicken George in Roots  and a million other roles, and a song-and-dance colossus on Broadway and in the movies, is never out of work. Recently, he wrapped a gig as a judge on the Lifetime reality competition "Your Momma Don't Dance."

No complaints from him about the low-brow nature of the work.

"We have to adjust to the time and what is present," he told the critics, many of whom, along with the folks in TV biz they cover, are kind of clunking along in today's topsy-turvy techno media follies.

"Whatever is given to us," Vereen said, "our job is to make art. And I think that's what you are seeing right now is that transition, that art, is happening for all of us in the industry."

And then he looked out at his audience and said, "Even for you."

"Amen, brother," says the blogger.

Wilson had no cruel words for her Grey's co-star Katherine Heigl's recent public announcement that she didn't want to be considered for an Emmy because she hadn't had much meat in her role last season.

"All actors have to do the exact same thing every single year. We have to decide, you know, how do I submit and, if I submit, which clip to submit. ... So it was amazing to me the way it kind of got blown out of proportion."
