Ten Sunoco employees are reported in stable condition at area hospitals this afternoon after they were exposed to chemical spill at at a South Philadelphia refinery.

Inquirer staff writer Sam Wood reports:

Ten Sunoco employees are reported in stable condition at area hospitals this afternoon after they were exposed to chemical spill at at a South Philadelphia refinery.
 
An unknown amount of hydroflouridic acid spilled at the facility shortly before 11 a.m. on 3000 block of Penrose Avenue, police said.
 
The spill was placed under control shortly after noon.
 
Seven of the employees were taken to Methodist Hospital in South Philadelphia, three others were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
 
It is not yet known what caused the spill.
