They've been showcasing Boosh in my opinion. I cannot see them dumping Leights. Especially for nothing or next to nothing.

If you cannot see them dumping "Leights", go onto Youtube and watch the final goal Kane scored in Game 6. Not only could I see them dumping "Leights", I highly encourage it. He was a nice little story last season but, as I constantly posted on this site, he is not a top-flight goaltender, and last June it became brutally evident. Please, Holmgren, do us all a favor and trade/waive him. This season relies on Bobrovsky now anyway. For better or worse.

If you dump him you better have another plan. I like Bob and Boosh but they do not equal Stanley Cup.

hey uncleeddie did you happen to see his record that help them get to the playoffs. i am not taking anything away from bob or boucher but the flyers as an organization have to find a pair of successful golaies because right now they do not have a stand out goalie that can win a series solo. Those that want to argue about Boucher and the devils series last year boucher played well but did not steal games and either did leights. Here it is all you half and half fans that want to back what ever goalie is not in the net because the other guy is better suck it up and realize we don't have a straight star yet, bob has the potential but he his not there yet as for boucher and leights take your pick but right now I would see what Leights can do before sending him anywhere.

Don't blame Leighton for losing Game 6 UncleEddie. He kept them in game when Chicago was out shooting Flyers 17-3 in first period. Carter had chance to win it late but failed. He gets paid the big bucks to put the puck in the net.

Leighton lovers should go back and watch the WHOLE season. Even his hottest streaks- and take note of the wildly high number of yawning nets he left that opponents kept missing. Last year was a blast, but he was pretty good and sick crazy lucky. The front office/coaching staff knew it all along which is why they begrudgingly signed him to 2 yrs cheap last summer. Bob is the future and Boosh is a prototypical back-up. Leights OUT.

Bobrovsky has been very good so far. But none of us know if he can be a playoff goalie. Leighton can (and no, I am not going to judge him on one single game 6 goal alone). Boucher can. None of them are top class goalies in my opinion,t hough. It's a tricky situation but I guess Laviolette will go with Leights and Bobrovsky. Although I do feel a bit sorry for Boosh...

Leighton was a nice story last year, but there's a reason this guy's got a passport full of stamps. He's played all over the globe and never established himself as a top flight #1. Perhaps he can bring a draft pick in a trade.

Does anyone have any info on Backlund? Has he been written off? I think he should be given another try with the big club.

Just two words will forever sum up his career in my eyes: Leaky Leighton. He cost the Flyers a cup.

In the past Boosh has handled the role of backup better than Leighton (see Blackhawks-Leighton). I also read that Boosh has been mentoring Bob, even with the language difference, and trying to help him along. That is the role of a veteran backup, which Boosh seems to enjoy. Besides, with Backlund out for 2-3 weeks, Leighton will be starting, for the Phantoms.

I can't believe some of you. Boosh better off the bench? That is not what I saw in Games 1 and 5 of the Finals, the game earlier this year against the Lightning, and several games last year where Boosh came into a game and immediately let in a goal or flood of goals. Leighton was money coming in off the bench in relief (remember the shutout he pitched against Boston in the playoffs, remember when he came off the bench last year during the regular season?). Plus, Leighton's stats are SUBSTANTIALLY BETTER than Boosh's-- Last season for Boosh a 9-18-3 record, 2.76 GAA, .899 save percentage vs. 16-5 record, 2.48 GAA, and .916 save percentage for Leighton. Leighton's playoff stats are better as well (he actually finished 2nd overall last year in save percentage and first in GAA). Boosh's numbers have not improved this year despite having a stellar D in front of him with League best +/- pair in O'Donnell/Meszaros. The team scores more with Leighton in net (by far), because they trust him and play aggressive. And is someone really talking about what Leighton did for Chicago....um, that was 6 years ago, he was on a terrible team, and his save percentage was still better than what Boosh is doing now on a much, much better Flyers team. Leights has been a victim of being on terrible teams (Carolina and Chicago), while Boosh has been on very good teams (Flyers then San Jose). Most importantly, we win with Leighton in net. Even with arguably the best team in the league this year, we still have a losing record with Boosh. If you are satisfied with a losing record last year and this year, then Boosh is your man. If you want someone who saved the team last year, has better stats, and who the team plays better in front of, Leights is your guy.

Don't get me wrong Leighton saved the season last year, more than once. However, I think this is Bob's team now. Leighton was very good in the playoffs(even with that soft goal to end the season), but given the current team I don't see him fitting in well. If he comes back he will obviously want to be the starter again and considering Bob's stellar play that's not going to happen. I could very easily see him becoming angry and possibly becoming a distraction to the chemistry this team has. Boosh is not a starter, we all know that but he does accept the backup position and most likely is a good mentor for Bob. We also unfortunately have to take one factor into account that in a perfect world we wouldn't: the Salary Cap. With the Flyers ever present salary cap issues Boosh making 600k less is helpful. The unfortunate reality is the Flyers like most big market teams are essentially punished for attempting to win EVERY year, not a sucking for years on end and getting high draft picks aka Pittsburgh. Even for those who think Bob hasn't proven enough to me it doesn't matter, they have the best defense in the league 1-6 and by far are the deepest team in the league at forward. We don't need a Bernie Parent or Pelle Lindburgh, we just need a goalie who makes the saves you're supposed to make.

Leighton is a waste of salary, roster spot and energy.
He's a career minor league / backup at best.
If they could keep him as a third string backup, which is what he was last year, then it's worth it.

snipesmorris, I was referring to when Leighton he signed a contract with Chicago to be their starter then got hurt in the off season and didn't even win the backup job. He threw a hissy fit when he was sent to the AHL which led to Chicago trading him.
