Video: Did the Flyers ever have a chance to sign Ryan Suter or re-sign Matt Carle? Where do they go from here? Frank Seravalli of the Daily News discusses with CineSport's Noah Coslov.

Matt Carle didn't deserve that much money. The team looks pretty good, especially knowing neither Parise nor Suter are in their division. Sign Voracek NOW and give Gustaffson playing time while giving Timmonene rest during February and March. Be gone "Captain Turn-over" and your idiot cohort Lilja!!!!!! girouxforpresident
Alexander Semin. please.......5.85 plus signing bonus over 3 years...dumpable, high upside, great talent, two-way player, takes care of his zone. feudal_nobility09
How many Flyers forwards are better than Semin? NYPHILLYPHAN
Doan defiore14
What will I do now that Carle is gone. He is the inspiration for most of my snide comments on Flyers chat. RH
A few thoughts. First, they will get nowhere unless Bryz plays more like he did in March and less like he did most of the rest of the year. Second, there is no hurry to do anything big. They will get to the playoffs, let the younger players handle most of the load. Third, if they don't overcommit now, they will have some room to do something midseason should something present itself before the trade deadline. ICDogg
Everyone wants Doan but is it a realistic acquisition??? I have no clue; maybe Doan wants to stay in Phoenix. I think the Flyers should acquire Semin. Semin is a good passer...You put him with a finisher like Giroux and you have struck gold. His consistency is in question no doubt and there are locker room questions. Maybe a change of scenery, a new system and a better offense will help him. Also, the Flyers have multifarious personalities = a very diverse team...could be a good environment for Semin.....ultimately, it comes down to, does Semin want to play for the Flyers and do the Flyers want him.....To me, Semin is the last realistic shot at a significant acquisition beyond picking up great parts in Fedetenko and the Dman from TB.... feudal_nobility09
Btw, hard to believe Doan could go so long without wearing the black and orange.......how in the world does a player like that never play for the Flyers lol. feudal_nobility09
1. Doan-but not happening
2. Semin-but only on short term2-3 yr deal as give up no core players this way and add offense
3. Ryan-but only for Hartnell, Rinado, and Illya or a 2nd rounder-no kids/no 1st
4. Nash-same as above but he is older and salary is higher so last option connorjr
The Flyers are not adding anyone else. To add someone else will cost the Flyers dearly. They are looking at next year. Nuff said. ByeByeButtman- Semin = Zherdev, only at a higher price. Great shot. Terrible player. Worse teammate. Hexy4GM
Connorjr - Why would Columbus or Anaheim want Bryz in a deal??? They are trying to dump salary not add salary. You can't get either guy without giving up some combo involving Schenn or Courturier. So no go. adzack3441
I wish October would hurry up and get here! Fly Guy
Even if the Flyers threw more money at Parise & Suter than any other team they had no chance. The Flyers should be happy both didn't sign with Pittsburgh, considering how close Crosby & Parise are, both attended the same prep school & Crosby's family watched the finals from Parise's box. Flyer fans have to be thankful that both signed out of the East and not with the Penguins. The Flyers trading for Luke Scheen, to essentially replace Carle, is a mistake. Scheen has been on the trade block since Burke became GM of Toronto. Scheen is a turnover machine. If Flyer fans felt that way about Carle just picture a slower but more physical version of Carle but with absolutely zero offensive capabilities, that is Luke Scheen. He is often caught out of position to make a hit. Gervais is also more cap friendly and has Carle's speed but he is a terrible d-man. Carle is just better than both by a wide margin. I'm hoping Bourdon can stay healthy because he is a much better option on the third pair of d-men than Gustafsson or Gervais. Gustafsson is just too small and even though he has offensive upside & speed, should be trade bait. I like the Flyers young forwards, but it will be intersting to see if they can avoid a sophmore slump. Would love for the Flyers to trade for Bobby Ryan. Bur would Anaheim even consider Gustafsson, Brayden Scheen, & Voracek and a # 1 pick for him? Maybe Homer could throw in Luke Scheen & get Sbisa back. I know I'm just dreaming here, but isn't that what the off-season is for? sox12st

What's next for Flyers??? A long road back to respectability....... bigdaddyG
Hexy4GM has it right. Semin is like Zherdev, except at a much higher salary. He might pass well, but what about his defensive play? This is why he sat the big moments in Captitals games, along with Ovy. They couldn't count on him. So you'd invest nearly 6 mill in a player who can only play on the pp or offensive situations. Doan, if Phoenix collapses, has already indicated where he'd go, and it's not Philly. I agree with the assessment on Schenn's turnovers, but he was not acquired to replace Carle. Mez was out for most of the 2nd half last year. When he returns, you have 4 top 4 D men: Timmo/Coburn/Grossman and Mez. Schenn will start the 3rd pair while Gusty,Boudon,Lilja and Gervais compete for the 6th & 7th spots. Schenn CAN turn it around-IF they don't push him too far too soon (like Toronto did). He should be able to start fresh as a 3rd pair guy, just like Mez did when he got here (Mez had the same problems in Tampa) Also, Schenn's offense is a lot better than people think. 20 pts on a bad Toronto team is going to translate to a lot more in Philly. If you don't think so, just look at the players who have come here the last 2 seasons and see how many more points they have now. Bottom line, they are ok to start the season and will be able to compete for a playoff spot. They can save the $ not spent now on someone better at the trade deadline. Danno
