Van Riemsdyk returns to practice

Flyers rookie James van Riemsdyk was back on the ice today after not skating for six days with a head injury that was sustained last Tuesday against Washington.

Van Riemsdyk's "head trauma" was never officially diagnosed as a concussion. He was pain-free after Monday's practice, which included at least 10 minutes of hard skating at the end.

"It was a good test for me to see where my head is at and it felt good," van Riemsdyk said. "It was my first skate there. If I can get through that one, I can probably get through a lot of them – that was a pretty tough practice."

Van Riemsdyk, 20, didn't have any headaches at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday - in a loud environment - as he watched the Eagles knock-off Tampa Bay with the rest of his teammates.

He is flying with the team today to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where the Flyers will be doing team bonding events throughout the week on the Atlantic Ocean. He is expected to be ready to play in Friday night's game against the Panthers.
