Timonen leaves game early

Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen left Thursday night's game against the Penguins with a "lower-body injury."

Timonen, 38, took a 9-second shift after Pittsburgh's second goal and did not return. His status will be updated after the game.

Meanwhile, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren provided injury updates to the team's two forwards missing the game:

Holmgren expects both Vinny Lecavalier (lower-body) and Scott Hartnell (upper-body) to begin skating on their own on Sunday. Lecavalier, 33, was expected to only miss one week, but his injury will cause him to miss at least 13 days.

Holmgren said it helped that the Flyers had a week off in between games to give Lecavalier time to heal.

The timeline for Hartnell, expected to miss 3-to-4 weeks, has not changed, even though he will be back to skating just 9 days after tweaking a muscle against the Coyotes on Oct. 11.
