Schenn back on the ice
Brayden Schenn still has a little more than a week remaining on the timetable for his return to the Flyers’ lineup, but he is making strides in the right direction.
Schenn, 20, returned to practice with the Flyers on Wednesday for the first time since fracturing his foot in Montreal on Oct. 26 when blocking a shot.
Schenn was originally scheduled to be out for four weeks.
He skated in a limited role with teammates on Wednesday, manning the point on the power play and did not participate in their wind sprints. Schenn also wore a protective boot over his skates to protect from further injury.
Schenn, acquired from Los Angeles on June 23 in the Mike Richards trade, has skated in just 4 games with the Flyers this season and has not registered a point. He is also a minus-5 in those 4 games. Schenn is still looking for his first NHL goal.
Schenn started the season in AHL Adirondack, partly as a salary cap saving move, and posted 8 points (4 goals, 4 assists) in 4 games.
More coming after practice.

Tough break ( literally ) for the kid, but he's going to be a good one for sure. Hang in there Brayden. Which begs the question....who ever would have thought that we'd have two Braydens on the club at the same time? djlen
The last time he made the lineup the chemistry of the team plummeted. I wonder if he fits in with the makeup of the current team. I would much rather see Rinaldi in the lineup with his energy and feistyness. Schenn just didn't seem to fill a need anywhere. NHLfan
I agree with NHLfan on this one. I think the chemistry of this team takes a hit with Schenn in the lineup. I would much rather see him back in Adirondack for a while getting reconditioned along with rebuilding his confidence. CTL
As much as I want to see the kid play, lately I have been so impressed with everyone I am not sure who to take out. Even Hartnell is doing is job in between bonehead plays (moot point anyway because they won't send him down). Harry Z? Rinaldo? They bring in too much energy. I think the best thing to do is have him build chemistry with the team at practice and eventually there will be a spot for him through an injury. gob1234
Agreed on Schenn...... Mark1npt
Yeah I would hate to see Harry Z or Rinaldo taken out of the lineup (at least right now) in favor or Schenn and Shelley. This team is rolling. Just bring Schenn along slowly. If you really can't find a spot for him. trade him for a high draft pick or a solid piece you need (but don't know it yet) at the deadline. I want to see him develop but if he doesn't fit... he doesn't fit. Just don't "Dom Brown it" and not trade him while his value is still high. ragecage22
shelly will not be on team for much longer. schenn over harry z no matter what, even if means schenn on 4th line. fman727
Suprised the comments arent "Dom Browning it" already @ragecage22... Hes 20 years old FABER
Comment removed.
Agree with most of the comments on Schenn, but the reality is that by the time he is ready to go, you know someone else will be hurt or benched. He will fit into the lineup out of necessity. snipesmorris
Schenn is a player... he just needs to get the time on the ice. UGHROLF
Tom Sestito looks terrible in the AHL. Two of his fights on Hockeyfights are terrible. Is he hurt? He has a shield and won't take it off. MichaelZoe
HAHAHA 4 games and the chemistry went down. You people are clueless. This kids a STUD! seaonasdad- Some stud. Averaged nearly 15 mins per game in the four he played but was minus in all four, including the only game the team won with him in the lineup. Zero points. By contrast, Rinaldo has a goal and 2 assists averaging only 6 mins per game. The Phantoms need Schenn more than the Flyers do. icarus
- seaonasdad nailed it here. Schenn is a future stud. Harry Z and Rinaldo are a dime-a-dozen. Plus chemistry guys aren't rookies getting 6 minutes a game.
