Richards among 5 Flyers needing surgery

Flyers captain Mike Richards will need surgery on his injured wrist, general manager Paul Holmgren told reporters during his end-of-season news conference.

Holmgren said Richards has been bothered by a torn ligament since training camp.

Richards was not available to speak to the media Monday. Richards was at the practice facility briefly before leaving for a doctor's appointment.

Other surgeries for the Flyers that Holmgren announced:

Kris Versteeg - stomach lining

Michael Leighton - hip

Blair Betts - finger

Andrej Meszaros - wrist

Scott Hartnell and Jeff Carter might need hip surgery.

The Flyers are still not sure about surgery for Chris Pronger.
