Rangers throttle Flyers, 7-0
NEW YORK – Now, they can’t even beat the Rangers.
Ryan Callahan’s first career hat trick came in the first half of the game as the Rangers finally beat the Flyers, 7-0. Callahan added a fourth in the third period.
The Flyers had beaten the Rangers in all four meetings this season, a continued salting of the wound the Flyers opened when they ended the Rangers’ season last year with a shootout goal in the finale.
This time, the Rangers twisted the knife. They handed the Flyers a season-high fourth straight loss and their worst of the season. The Flyers lost to the Panthers, 5-0, Dec. 20.
Like all of the Flyers’ recent losses, this one was marked by turnovers, inconsistent effort, a rash of unwise penalties (five today) and a toothless power play, now 2-for-32 after an 0-for-5 effort.
Callahan’s third goal ended the day for Brian Boucher, who got his second start in goal in six games.
Henrik Lundqvist finished with 24 saves for the shutout for the Rangers.
The Flyers had hoped to salve the sting of consecutive home losses earmarked by blown leads, March games that built upon the faltering February theme of partial focus and undisciplined play.
They wanted to begin to rebuild a lead in the Eastern Conference that once stood at nine points over the next seed but had dropped to two points.
They needed to do all these things in their second game within a 24-hour span, their third in 4 days, their third of four games in 6 days, the start of a grueling, 15-in-29 stretch.
The last three losses have come against teams on or near the playoff bubble, teams performing in playoff mode – the most dangerous sort, really.
Teams such as the Rangers, seventh in the conference before today but only two points ahead of ninth-place Buffalo, who yesterday beat the Flyers.
The Rangers scored on their first possession, on their second shotl, when Braydon Coburn lost Brandon Dubinsky in one corner, couldn’t catch Dubinsky as Dubinsky race behind the net to the other corner, and was out of the play when Dubinsky fed Ryan Callahan in the crease. Callahan’s redirection beat Brian Boucher just 51 seconds into the game.
Boucher had little chance on that goal. He had plenty of responsibility for the next.
As a 4-on-4 situation expired into a Rangers power kill, Callahan camped in the corner to Boucher’s right. Defenseman Chris Pronger retreated to protect the middle of the ice. Boucher crouched and left Callahan plenty of goal to shoot at above his right shoulder.
Callahan obligingly snapped in his second of the game, with 9:21 left in the first period.
Shortly before the second goal Flyers ruffian Jody Shelley clobbered Brian Boyle, a fight Shelley appeared to be begging for.
There was more to it.
Moments before, Rangers pest Sean Avery had been picking at former Rangers bust Nikolay Zherdev. Shelly quickly was sent onto the ice to replace Zherdev and approached Avery, who declined Shelley’s invitation to dance.
Soon thereafter, Shelley found himself lined up to deliver a crushing hit to Matt Gilroy, which he did, legally.
Boyle then zoomed over and started the fight with Shelley.
Both got 5 minutes for fighting, but not only did Boyle lose the fight, he also was hit with a two-minute minor for instigating and a 10-minute misconduct.
The fighting theme cost the Flyers in the second period.
Mike Richards lost a long fight with Dubinsky, and was watching when Kris Versteeg and Marian Gaborkink roughed each other and created a 4-on-4.
Ville Leino lost the puck on a fancy move at one end. He and his teammates froze. Mats Zuccarello skated hard down the ght wing on a 2-on-1 rush, received a feed from Ruslan Fedotenko and beat Brian Boucher under his left pad just over 5 minutes into the second.
Boucher’s misery ended less than 90 seconds later.
Directly in front of Boucher, Callahan simply picked up a puck Versteeg left behind and beat Boucher for a 4-0 lead, Callahan’s 19th of the season. That brought on backup Sergei Bobrovsky.
Callahan beat him with 15:40 to play in the third, a goal he appeared to kick in. A review determined the goal to be legitimate.
Artem Anisimov caught the Flyers in a change with a out 5 minutes left, broke free and beat Bobrovsky to make it 6-0. Zuccarello scored again with 73 seconds left for the final tally.
It might have been worse. A second-period goal by Sean Avery was disallowed after it was determined that Avery kicked it in.
Slap shots
Jeff Carter missed his second game with a flu relapse. Carter missed Thursday’s game, was excused from practice Friday to attend his grandfather’s funeral in Canada, returned to the team and played Saturday, albeit unremarkably. Shortly after beginning his pregame routine in New York today, Carter stopped, dressed and left the rink. … The teams combined for 17 penalties.

- They just need to get back to "Flyers Hockey!" That was Clarkie and Holmer and Snyder can wait another 40 years to win a championship. Of course, I'm sure the NHL will have folded by then. The real shame is that that mutt Snyder puts ALL his time and resources into that loser of a franshice in that loser of a sport at the detriment of the basketball team. Keep selling out the place for the your "Fly-guys" losers, really sending a message to ownership. However, I am impressed that there are this many Flyers fans (wt) that own a computer and know how to post comments on here. Way to go!
If the past 3 losses weren't enough, this should wake them up. We got humiliated. Now we need to put this one behind us and come ready to play for the next game. falcon57
Relentessly losing. Flyers are becoming the trolls of the NHL as Charlie Sheen would put it. Drew777
typical "fans" gettin ready to jump off the bandwagon at a moment's notice. a bunch of the players have the flu and theyr also getting complacent. better to lose now than further into the season. get a grip people. theeman1
i can kinda understand not scoring any goals but giving up 3 goals from one goalie and the then the other gives up 4??? wtf. bring back leighton. rporciuncula
This is the Flyers every year it seems. If the playoffs are in January, we'd have won tons of Stanley Cups. In March, they tank and they whimper into the playoffs. Last year they did the same and then somehow got it together in the playoffs. Most years they don't. PhillyFanSince86
The goalie bashers here are proving they know NOTHING about hockey. Exhibit A, the first goal: there were 3 Rangers inside the Flyer defenders on Boucher. THREE! What, was Boucher supposed to defend the slot too? Speaking of the slot, how about Versteeg's gift, the odd-man rushes, breakaways, and relentless power play pressure? They the goalies' fault too? There isn't a single goalie in NHL history who would've survived this game under the kind of offensive assault the Flyers let happen today. There are times to question goaltending, but today was not one of them. Today was a time to question everything else. icarus
This team is one and done in the playoffs. All you stepfords, Lavie and Homer lovers need to accept the fact that the season is OVER! Look at NHL history, how do the front runners (Pres Cup included) do in the playoffs. This team will not win the cup until Ed Snider dies or sells his interest in the team. downthemiddle
At least once a period, a Flyers player with the puck in prime scoring position chooses to pass the puck back to the blue line. Why? Sounds like a sudden lack of confidence. Briere and Richards haven't scored in forever. Snap Crackle Propp- ...Briere and Richards both scored Feb.16,2011

it has been one and done goaltending all year. the need for a goalie was apparent. now as soon as the trade deadline passes, so do our goaltenders.the way i look at it is that when bob is in it's a 2 goal give up automatically. they don't want to fix it... we the fans, pay. oh well, we'll get em next year... or the one after that... or the one after that. jim3888
How could they possibly get worse??? Pete H
Right about now Ville must be pretty happy he hasn't been signed yet.
Hmmm...maybe I should field some other offers. Paul1954
Anyone that has been watching could see this coming. The Flyers have sucked for the last month, and it's all caving in on them now when nothing is working. The real message in this game is the TOTAL lack of play in the 3rd period when the Flyers simply gave up.
These guys will be out in the first round of the playoffs - no matter who they play. It's a damn shame, they've completely stopped playing and it looks like Lavy has no answer for it. doctorlivingstone

Geez, calm down already. They've been the best team in the NHL pretty much all season -- which is a very LONG season. They're in a bit of a slump right now. CousinEddie
NMS: Because it was a non-story. The survey you reference (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/allstar/poll/opinions/which-team-is-overrated/), says that a whopping 4% of players thought the Flyers were overrated. That number is insignificant. The Caps were highest at 35%, followed by the Canucks at 12%, and then a few other teams before the Flyers. snipesmorris- Thanks for the correction, Fan. I had missed the percentages because I focused on a summary of the story that was at another page on the site, not the main story. But I still think this team hasn't played very well since they went to Tampa Bay after the all-star break. That's when they started throwing ill-conceived passes, not catching passes, not beating opposing players to the puck -- all of that and more.
NMS
Great teams don't yo yo at this point of the season. Ask Vancouver. A few losses is a slump but his is starting to be ordinary. foment3
OUCH! Now is the time to purge all the bad vibe. delcodanno
ask jody shelley what he thinks the problem with this team is. very interesting comment by him during his 1st period intermission interview he had with tim saunders. it's not often a player on a team actually tells you that two or three people are the problem. wonder who he's referring to? kdub13

One question: After the weekend of the All-Star game, a brief article showed up on the NHL site reporting the results of a survey that was taken over the weekend. One of the questions the survey asked the league's top players was "Which NHL team is the most overrated?" This was during the All-Star break, mind you, when our Flyers were running away from the rest of the Eastern Conference teams. Yet the All-Stars ranked the Flyers near the top of the list of overrated teams. How come no Philadelphia writer (that I am aware of) picked up on that survey and tried to dig a little deeper in what would have obviously been a big story in Philly? Wonder what those players see in the Flyers the rest of us don't. Couldn't have been jealousy, the All-Stars ranked the Canucks near the top of the list of teams "I'd most like to play for." Maybe if Frank or Sam or one of the other local scribes were to go after that story, we might learn exactly what kind of players' bug has gotten into the Flyers this month and last. NMS
Relax...it is regular season against teams fighting for the last spot in the playoffs. A number one seed never wins the Cup anyway. I say they should take a month off, and then come back and win. They clearly need a break. DrZ88
Please please please find a team that is willing to take Carter's contract and go out and get Vokoun. Boucher is living up to his career backup role and Bob is just too inconsistent. Why does this team always face this same major issue... ant8817
It must be tough for the team to feel like they are playing for something right now. Think about it, they squeak in last year and come sooo close to winning it all. They start really strong this year, dominate teams at will. Come playoffs, they will show up and dominate. What's on the line right now for them? It's not like they are fighting for their lives like every team they play...they are in. Home ice??? Didn't help last year...they still lost the final game at home. I kind of think it's like someone telling you drop a bad habit when you aren't ready to do it...come playoffs THEY WILL BE READY!!! CalgaryFlyer
Bunch of idiots here.... Sit this person, sit this person. Shut up already.. 18 games left, we are first in the conference.... Love the morons bashing giroux and carter. Guess who has more goals the ovechkin? Carter!... we will be fine, all you guys do is complain. Rather struggle now before playoffs then last week of season. hope none of you write on here when your wrong. fman727
I wonder if it's a coincidence the slide started when Zherdev got back in the lineup. PYW
Bousher was playing great until the coach decided it was time for Bob to play, there went Boucher's hot streak. Howard32
<< Looks at standings,, Yep Flyers still top of the East. They got there by not sucking thats for sure. Its a slump and I'd imagine they all don't feel 100% if the flu is going around. If in two weeks they are still sucking it bad then I'll start to worry. Fir_Na_Tine
FILTHYDELPHIA WERE WAY OFF THEIR GAME TODAY. WENT DOWN BY MORE THAN A GOAL AND DIDN'T GOON IT UP. NO STICK SWINGING. NO SLASHING EVERYONE BEHIND THE PLAY. NO SUCKER PUNCHING. CAPT RICHARDS BIT OFF MORE THAN HE COULD CHEW YET AGAIN BY DROPPING HIS GLOVES. BUT DON'T WORRY. THE SEASONS ARE CHANGING AND IT'S BASEBALL SEASON IN FILTHYDELPHIA. NYRYG
Keep pounding until you get your flesh. Releasing some pressure will help. Couple of days off from practice = etc.....these guys are harder on themselves than any of us are. All you bloaks can jump back on in a month..... Northcountry
Tape the game today, out of 4 of 5 power play during offensive zone time only, they made 75 passes, for 12 shots and some of these shots
missed the net.Heres your sign!!! mean mean pride, mean mean pride.
Raggers/hawks- 55 years? Don't think so. Stick to your NYpost blogs, us Flyers fans we eat you alive. mrjarn
One game does not a season make, yet 4 losses in a row is a cause for concern, especially when you have beaten these same teams before. mrjarn
Dear Paul Holmgren - Please keep signing these losers to play goal. Guess the flygirls will be the 55 year cup drought.... make sure the 3 losers who go to the post show up tomorrow...oh wait, you didn't win so you won't... Oh, how fast the flyers are fading.... ROTFLMAO... FOREEEEEEEEE!!!! Rangers-Hawks
I think we could be witnessing a collapse of epic proportions here! I like the way everyone acts like the Flyers have secured a playoff spot...well that have not! Currently all the other 7 teams behind them AND New Jersey are playing pretty good hockey. Pittsburgh especially, as much as I hate to say that. A good perentage of these posts blame losses on no Jeff Carter...wake up folks!! Pitt is winning without Crosby AND Malkin. People talk about how deep the Flyers are...they couldn't even beat lowly Ottawa with a full squad!!
Sorry! Barring a complete turnaround, and I mean on every facet of the game, this team MIGHT make the playoffs as a #6 or #7 seed then get a first round exit. Other teams get the flu and/or lose players to injury! Just ask the GB Packers.
Stop making excuses and get this team a BIG MIRROR to put right in the middle of the locker room and STARE IN IT for a few hours!
It is now "gut check" time, let's see what this team is made of! rickah88
When you lose the edge, it's very hard to get it back. The Flyers floundered for most of last season, then got the edge late. They'll have to dig deep to recover their lost momentum. john newlin
Until they learn to stop teams at center ice and play some defense, they'll never win a thing.
For weeks now they've allowed the dregs of the league to free wheel through center ice without so much as a passing wave..unacceptable!
This has caused far less talented teams to be on an equal footing, allowed far too many scoring changes against and in turn not created turnovers where they have a far superior offensive team to most.
I blame P.L. for not recognizing this and taking the steps to correct it. dedhed
Flyers haven't look good over the last few. Some introspection is needed, I agree. To me, the real problem is the way the greedy folks who run the NHL have it structured. As it stands now, the regular season isn't meaningless, but it's pretty close. The regular season stretches far too long with too many games packed in for a contact sport (why is that? GREED). It's not too surprising at this time of year to see teams who've dogged it for the last 5 months get desperate and to see those teams that haven't dogged it (ie, teams like the Flyers) lay off a bit. After last season, the Flyers know too well what lies in wait: the grueling marathon that is the NHL postseason. It's asking too much for a team to bring 100% intensity and spectacular play for 6.5 months all for nothing but home ice advantage, which is usually meaningless as well. Change the way you structure your league, NHL. Make the regular season shorter with fewer games so that the games are more meaningful, and give the best teams during the regular season more reward than just home ice. Show us fans that you aren't driven by greed. Androxman
I agree the flu has hurt the team for now. And I agree that Lav was wrong to punish them with a hard workout like they were in last place. He is a good coach but that was a mistake when they have such a tough schedule all through March. But if we have to lose let's lose to the teams ahead of NJ like Buf and NY. Let's break their consecutive playoff streak. That's one bright spot in all this. LuckyDog
Take #18 off the p.p. He's getting worn down with all the games over the last 2yrs (Olympics incl.) and he keeps making low % passes. This will kill 2 birds with one stone. Then work on the d zone coverage and Bob's stickhandling. jking91
"The wins will come" but not today. Maybe next season? Lav's wasn't very specific, was he? palm_goodness- That was a pathetic display on national TV this afternoon. Laviolette needs to have a serious closed-door meeting with this team and throttle them up. Then the players need to hold their own meeting. The way they played today is unacceptable and will not get them past the first round.
Come on - stop it with the relax comments and the excuses. The whole team doesn't have the flu. And we've seen these stretches late in the year before. They don't turn out well. matthew76
They are not playing Flyer hockey. It looks like they think they are the 72' Red Army Team. They are spending all the time looking for a pretty pass and the perfect goal. This is leading to bad turnovers and missed chances. They need to be reminded what logo is on the front of the jersey and start playing with heart, grit, toughness. Go for the net and pay the price..... we are loosing puck battles and getting pushed around and that is BS!!! motorhead
Defense is a disgrace right now, its hard to believe but the PP is even worse. This better be the wake up call they needed. If not, they won't even have home ice in the playoffs. Neither goalie has been good. Turn it around boys!! Go Flyers... Go Union!! ragecage22
longislandflyerfan: "How many of you could play this physical game when you are 100% healthy, no less when you have the Flu ?? "
Tell you what. Pay me 5.7 million a year to do *anything* and I'll show you what I can do with the flu.
At the ripe old age of 63 I decided to learn to play ice hockey, having never before skated. My respect for the amount of skill it requires to skate at full speed with a puck perched precariously on the end of a stick has grown exponentially, and I have developed a lot more empathy for professional hockey players, despite the fact that I am aware they have been playing since they were 3 years old. Having said that, with the raw talent the Flyers possess, I think they have been playing well below justified expectations for over a month now. Maybe I'm stuck in the '73-'74 season, but these guys seem to have little work ethic. I still want them to win the Cup, but I'm not betting my house on it. I did that last year. Now I live next to the dumpster behind the rink. Short commute. WildwoodDays
People should learn to relax a bit! BEMiller
Relax. Slumps happen during a long NHL season. Sure, it was bad, but it's March 5th, not April 5th. They'll be fine. Have some faith in Coach Peter Laviolette. This team has talent, depth, and grit and they'll figure it out and get ready for the playoff run in April. Phront_Runner
relax losers, first valley of the season, they'll be fine seaonasdad
Let's all take a deep breath and relax people, it's called a "funk" and every team goes through it. '64 Phillies? Really?
I think a loss like this might be good, it should light the fires. 3-hit shutout- Every team has team slump some time during a season. The '64 Phillies had theirs at exactly the wrong time. The only time worse is in the playoffs. Remember, too, that all of the "great" Gene Mauch's teams had their team slumps at exactly the worst possible time.

Well, after a good month of having "nothing to motivate them" they find themselves in a race; B's just 2 points behind, Pens 2 points behind (Flyers have 2 games in hand) with Tampa and Washington not too far away. Let's see how they respond over the next 6 games-four games with Team fighting for playoff spots phillyflyer70
You people all kill me. And I am not trying to make excuses for this team; however, It is a given fact that 4 of these players that we know of have presently or within the week have had the flu. You know it is going around the locker room and that probably most of these players are suffering from flu like symptoms. I had the flu 3 weeks ago and it took me 3 weeks to fully recover. After being diagnost, I could hardly stand on my feet for a week no less play hockey. Cut these guys some slack. They are obviously not feeling well. Thank god this has happened now and they will be feeling better in 1 to 2 weeks. Thank god we have this weak schedule now where it isn't hurting them to badly. If they play like they are playing now in a few more weeks when they play Boston, The Pigeons twice, then they will have a problem. All we all should hope for is that they will be back to their winning ways by the start of these games and once they are no longer sick. If this continues for over 1 more week (once they are better), then I would start worrying. How many of you could play this physical game when you are 100% healthy, no less when you have the Flu ?? longislandflyerfan- I think the whole team has the flu. An entire team can't look like they have heavy legs unless Laviolette ran them too hard those 4 days off. You see them playing the way they were, doing the same cycling, they just look a lot slower right now.
Relax all you Philly fans. Philly is now rated #1 most toxic city in the country. I knew you could do it. Pittsburgh not rated. Go Pens. kokid8766
A lot of players are in a funk right now, and offensively the Leino-Giroux-Hartnell unit doesn't click no more. Horrific turnovers on the part of Versteeg and O'Donnell, stupid penalties and also a tendency towards passing around instead of shooting have lead to this. Enough of the fancy play, hard blue collar work is what is needed now. The D corps must step up now, and like some of the other teams, the Flyers must think about defense first now. It is what wins championships in hockey. flyerdommo
I didn't think that they could possibly take the humiliation level to new lows. I was obviously wrong. It can't get any lower that being shut out 7-0 by the clowns from New York. This team has gone right back to being completely gutless and not caring. If it wasn't so pathetic it would be laughable. I'd love to know what's going through Homer's and Lavi's heads right about now. Again...where is the leadership on this pathetic squad. If I were Homer, I'd bring up the entire Phantoms team for the next game. At least they'd probably give a damn and compete! flyers1313
I hate to pull the ripcord at this point, but this team is starting to remind me a bit too much of the 01/02 team that was running away with the league and self-destructed in the last month of the season, with the PP disappearing, Roman Cechmanek flaking out, and the team mutiny against Bill Barber. Some slumps are inevitable, but they really need to turn this around and be on solid footing so they don't completely bomb out of the playoffs. Pelti

0-5 again on the PP. This is just mind boggling how this team cannot score with a man advantage. I guess this is why Lavvy got fired after winning a cup. You (and everyone else) can stop worrying. Does anyone doubt that this team is better then the squad last year? They will turn it on when it matters.
Sean, you are correct, it's better for the Flyers to enter a death spiral NOW than wait until April. It makes vacation planning easier.
But I am concerned that you mention Michael Vick in the same message as the Flyers. Are the Flyers into dog fighting? Is that why they have lost focus? Grrrrr... WildwoodDays
I'm beyond mad, and have moved into "seriously concerned" territory. Teams lose games, but this feels different to me. They look ragged and inept. I hope they're just slumping or battling the flu, but they look like a team with no direction, like they've quit on the coach and/or the system. Whatever it is, it clearly isn't working. Hame of Famer
This team is getting exactly what they deserve in terms of their goaltending decisions over the last 10 years. Their refusal to go for championship caliber talent in net is frustrating and it is precisely at these kinds of seasonal lulls where the difference maker in goal can keep a team positive and successful. Unfortunately, the Flyer's goalies are not game changers. They asked everyone in Philly to open up and take a big swig of Bobrovski Kool Aid and the kid's initial success was exciting but not unusual in the NHL where a talented youngster can befuttle shooters who have not seen him before. Now that the snipers know his vulnerabilities, you're seeing the result. The thing that burns me up is that if I know this, why doesn't the brain trust at Broad and Patterson? Every year for the last 15 years we have been told "relax...we think we're good enough" when it comes to the net minders. I'm sick of it. stockman1
The Flyers looked like they were skating in mud. They are still No. 1 in the East and I would rather be in their position than most of the other teams' positions. It will turn around and they will win the Cup. erniebanks14
Does everyone remember the '64 Phillies, looks like history may repeat itself. This team is toast. Not only won't they win the East I predict they will finish 4th and lose in the first round. I have followed this team since 1972 and I am tired of being dissapointed year after year. There is nothing good about this team right now and worse than that there is no heart. barry1757
like I've been saying for months(yes even when they were winning)
NO GOALIE+NO PP=1 AND DONE.

before everyone starts jumping off the walt whitman this team is will be fine, it could be several factors including boredom and flu etc. the capitals lost 13 straight games and we know they are a good team, this is there slump they will get out of it. every one relax. deatheater
Let's get something straight here: The Flyers were not "embarrassed" by the Rangers. In order to feel embarrassment you must have pride. It's fairly obvious the Flyers don't have any pride. Ergo they were not embarrassed. Who do we play next? The Wills Eye Institute Team for the Blind? What's the over/under on that one? WildwoodDays
The season is over. Let's just pack it in.
Typical response of Philadelphia fans.

The Flyers are better off going through a rough stretch now.

Sit Briere, JVR to AHL to learn how to stick handle and develop some grit. Nice trade for a -16 who turns over like "Z". At least he has some grit. Put anyone with Briere and Hartnell and they will disappear too. Carter is inconsistent as Coburn. Play Powe and Nodle and Leino and Giroux. Patience? Are you out of your mind?
The problem is not Bob. Booooosh is inconsistent and only decent if he is on a streak. Bob is the future and he has got some reflex. LaCroix,Nolet,Gendron- Bob has been on my radar since his very first start. Yes he has great reflexes but he lets in a soft goal, or two, every single game. I can't recall a single start where he owned the other team for 60 minutes. When he traps a puck he confusingly goes into what appears to me to be a full-on coma. Often the puck will trickle through somewhere (the guy is full of holes) and he just sits there like a statue only to suddenly jump to life moments after it's too late to do anything. None of this even touches on the fact that the rest of league knows he's like a sieve up high. If this is our goalie of the future the future is going to be a rough one.

It wasn't that bad. They were never more than one score down.
Oh wait, wrong sport...

what a great goalie we had Montlo- I wonder where all of those fans who believed that Zherdev's offence was needed, are? You know, the same ones that said trade Carter, because if Zherdev had his ice time, imagine how great he would be! Well, there is the Flyers with no Carter, and a healthy Zherdev. This team is so disinterested in working right now. They never got the puck to the middle of the ice at all today. And, I think Jeff Reese needs to reassess his approach. Both goalies drop to a knee, and fail to get square to shooters from the sharp angle. Jeff Reese is the one who is guiding them in that direction. Bobrovsky, Boucher, and Leighton all had that flaw...it is time he changed his approach, or started refunding his paychecks! Hexy4GM
Seriously, if you ignore the leaky goaltending, the deplorable giveaways in the defensive zone, their total inability to score even one goal, and the four game losing streak (4-6-1 in last 7), this was a pretty good game. The Rangers did NOT score in double-digits, so we have something positive to build on going forward. Or is that downward? WildwoodDays
I still think these guys are the best team in the NHL. I'm wondering if the flu might be affecting more players than we're told about. They look exhausted out there. lemone
Coach needs to earn his pay right now. krammar

I haven't seen anything this disgraceful from the Flyers in a long time. Absolutely pathetic...no effort, not playing fundamental hockey, poor goaltending. People weren't panicking after the three previous losses, well now I am! I seriously believe a team meeting is necessary, and some players should be benched! aantny88
Am I *worried*? Were the passengers on the Titanic worried after they hit the iceberg? WildwoodDays
1st it was our power play and goaltending, now it is everything. You name we probably suck at it.

No heart, No desire. Goaltending major problem. For weeks now they come up small. joepir
Wow---this was bad----as bad as the Packers getting beat by the lowly Lions back in December. Romus- Are you suggesting this will get them to get their heads out of their a**'s as go on to win the Stanley Cup?
