Randy Jones claimed by Kings

Defenseman Randy Jones was claimed off waivers today by the Los Angeles Kings. Jones had been sent by the Flyers to the Adirondack Phantoms, their AHL affiliate.

The Flyers yesterday placed re-entry waivers on Jones to return him to Philadelphia. Jones was sent to the Phantoms as part of a salary-cap move.

The Flyers and Kings will split his $3 million salary, with each team taking a $1.5 million cap hit.

Kings coach Terry Murray was an assistant coach for the Flyers when Jones played here and Kings assistant GM Ron Hextall was a longtime Flyers goalie.
