Defenseman Randy Jones was claimed off waivers today by the Los Angeles Kings. Jones had been sent by the Flyers to the Adirondack Phantoms, their AHL affiliate.

The Flyers yesterday placed re-entry waivers on Jones to return him to Philadelphia. Jones was sent to the Phantoms as part of a salary-cap move.

The Flyers and Kings will split his $3 million salary, with each team taking a $1.5 million cap hit.

Kings coach Terry Murray was an assistant coach for the Flyers when Jones played here and Kings assistant GM Ron Hextall was a longtime Flyers goalie.

Sending Cote and Carcillo to the AHL will free up more cap space. But then I am not sure I would do that to the Phantoms! How about the ECHL?

I think you got that cap hit wrong. Wasn't his cap hit 2.75 which would put the Flyers on the hook for 1.375? That took me all of a second to confirm. Quality reporting Frank!

Homer wise up, it's the coach not the players. Fire Stevens we'll go on a winning streak

you can't waive rathje cause he's injured. because he's injured, there's no cap hit anyway.

Rathje's salary doesn't count against the cap jjritchie. Perhaps you should know what you're talking about before you post. And just so you know, now that Gagne is out long-term, his salary won't count either.

bloome is right about the cap hit...obviously. Frank, do you even have any interest in this? Holmgren really should have made some more phone calls before trying to pull this off. His cap management has been as awful as Seravalli's coverage.

You all are splitting hairs over 1.5 - 1.375 = $125,000, or roughly 1/3 of Riley Cote. The point is, Homer just dropped a deuce in his his bedroom.
