Chris Pronger was snubbed.

A day after knocking off the New Jersey Devils in five games in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, the Flyers’ team MVP was not named as one of the NHL’s three finalists for the Norris Trophy.

The award, handed out to the best defenseman in the NHL, is voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Pronger, 35, finished 3rd on the Flyers this year in points with 55, chipping in 10 goals and 45 assists for his highest point total since 2007. Pronger added two goals in the Flyers' first round series against the Devils. He was also a team-best plus-22.

Instead, Los Angeles’ Drew Doughty – who became the second-youngest defenseman ever to be a finalist for the Norris – Chicago’s Duncan Keith and Washington’s Mike Green were voted as the top three.

Green, who was a finalist last year, finished the season with 75 points for the President Trophy-winning Capitals.

Green, though, was left off the Canadian Olympic team – which Pronger helped capture the gold medal in Vancouver – because of his defensive limitations. Green finished second to Boston's Zdeno Chara last year.

The winner will be announced on June 23 at the Palms in Las Vegas.

Pronger won the Norris Trophy in 2000, the same year he won the Hart Trophy as a member of the St. Louis Blues for league MVP.

For the record, my ballot for the 2010 Norris Trophy, as submitted to the NHL:

1. Chris Pronger
2. Drew Doughty
3. Duncan Keith
4. Nicklas Lidstrom
5. Dan Boyle
