No Forsberg in Philly

Is there any chance that Peter Forsberg - in the middle of another comeback attempt - has a home in Philly?

Oh, no. Not again.

News is making its way over to North America – faster than a Chris Pronger slap shot – that Peter Forsberg is attempting another comeback.

Is this Round 9 with that nagging foot injury?

It is the same injury that plagued him and the Flyers during their abominable campaign in 2006-07.

The report out of Sweden is that Forsberg has signed a one-week tryout contract with his hometown Modo team in the Swedish Elite League. He will play in at least three games.

Forsberg told reporters he was "ready to quit" earlier this summer after touring with Modo through Germany and Switzerland.

But just three weeks ago, Sweden added him to their list of potential players for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The games are just four months away.

Forsberg, 36, can play with Modo without jeopardizing any future in the NHL.

He last played an NHL game on April 29, 2008 with Colorado. He wasn't completely healthy there either, only playing in nine games with the Avalanche.

It's hard to say who would potentially have interest in the former Hart Trophy winner. Even though he has only played limited games with his health, Forsberg has still put up a point per game or better in his last NHL action.

One thing is for sure though: Forsberg doesn't have a future in Philadelphia. A Flyers source confirmed to the Daily News late Wednesday that the Flyers don't have any interest.
