The NHL is investigating Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh for not sending all available camera angles to league headquarters in Toronto for Simon Gagne’s apparent goal that was under review against the Penguins last Thursday, league spokesman Gary Meagher confirmed to the Daily News.

FSN Pittsburgh, who had the game’s only video feed, sent all of the camera angles of the replay except the one that clearly showed the puck over the goal line.

Comcast SportsNet elected to not use their own video feed during the game, one CSN employee said on Monday. CSN would have been able to send their own replays to the NHL's War Room in Toronto if they had used their own feed.

"Hockey Operations did not have a definitive replay that showed the puck in the net - and weren't aware that one existed - until after they made their ruling," said John Dellapina, another NHL spokesman. "Once the puck dropped, their ruling became permanent."

Video of the angle in question is shown below.

It is not yet clear whether FSN Pittsburgh purposely excluded the angle or it was an unintentional oversight, though one Penguins announcer can be heard saying “we saved that one” on the broadcast.

A message left for FSN Pittsburgh after business hours on Monday has not yet been returned.

The play was ruled no-goal by officials for “inconclusive evidence."

The non-goal, which wound up not impacting the 7-4 final score, would have given the Flyers a 6-3 lead heading into the second intermission. Coincidentally, the game was the second most watched Penguins regular season telecast ever.

The NHL has given no indication as to length of the investigation or what penalties may come of it.

Said Meagher: "It's a matter between the League, the Penguins and FSN that will be handled internally."

mdefeo how about blaming FSN Pittsburgh for attempting to manipulate the NHL? Cutting back on production costs on away games is not uncommon in the NHL.

not very philly like to use the dreaded/hated/dirty rival's video feed and production. Bout as bad as Andy Reid still coaching the Birds.

Wonder if they would have given the NHL all of the replays if the shooter was Crosby or Malkin. You have to keep an eye on them from now on to prevent further cheating for their team.

So embarrassing and small-time to do that. To be fair, it sound like the Pens announcers were conceding it should have been a goal.

It's over and it wouldn't have made any difference, I don't see why anyone wants to dwell on this. Flyers won.

You want to dwell on this because next time it COULD make a difference. If you want dwell on this because its altering the score of the game by some guy in the video booth, and calls into question the whole review system. The NHL should make someone pay for "forgetting" - on purpose or not.

They played video of the angle that showed it looking like a goal in the arena just before the call was made. I was there. It not being sent was probably just an oversight seeing as how that angle only was shown after all of the other ones. It's not some vast conspiracy.

FSN should face serious consequences, this is cheating, regardless if The Flyers won or lost.

Crosby would have scored. Malkin would have scored. They cheated. At least give Gagne a goal and change the score.

quite an "oversight" chocomog, don't you think? Why not take off the rosey pens glasses??? I guess oversight is a nice way of saying cheating in pittsburgh.

Not sure how the league can penalize a network. The bigger issue is how does league rely on the teams, only the home team in this case, to send them feeds?
