NHLPA releases anonymous player poll

TAMPA -- For the first time in nearly a week, the Flyers will reconvene team activities today in Tampa for practice at the St. Pete Times Forum in preparation for tomorrow night's game against the Lightning.

Some players are meeting the team on the heels of a warm vacation far away, like Costa Rica, some are coming from nearby, from trips to South Florida, and some are coming on the team plane from Philadelphia.

One of the most interesting bits from the All-Star Game this past weekend was a joint player poll released from the NHLPA and CBC.ca, anonymously conducted among 318 players.

Who do players think is the game's best referee? Would it surprise you that 20-percent, the majority, responded none?

Chris Pronger ranked as the third hardest defenseman to play against.

The Flyers, who exit the All-Star break in first place in the league standings, ranked as the fifth most overrated team.

Not surprisingly, players said that their favorite arena to play in was the Bell Centre in Montreal and that Fort Lauderdale's Bank Atlantic Center has the worst ice in the league.

Peter Laviolette did not make any of the coaching lists - as most demanding or easiest coach - and the Flyers were not chosen as any of the teams that players despise or would least like to play for.
