Maroon dealt to Anaheim
Pat Maroon's agonizing wait in finally over.
The Flyers have sent Maroon, the player who was dismissed from the Phantoms over 3 weeks ago, to the Anaheim Ducks in a 4-player trade, the Daily News has learned.
Maroon and David Laliberte were sent to Anaheim for former Flyer Danny Syvret and 22-year-old winger Rob Bordson.
Syvret, 25, is the only one amongst the group who has seen considerable NHL action. Syvret has played 6 games for the Ducks this season, including one against the Flyers. He skated in 21 games for the Flyers last season and scored the team's only goal at the Winter Classic at Fenway Park.
"We're comfortable with Danny," general manager Paul Holmgren said. "We know him. He brings depth to our organization. He has a good relationship with [Phantoms coach] John Paddock. He'll help our power play down there. And then obviously if we have injuries, he's a guy that can come up and help."
Laliberte skated in 11 games for the Flyers last year, picking up 3 goals and 1 assist. The right winger had 9 points in 19 games this season in Adirondack.
Bordson, 22, is a rookie out of the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he netted 40 points in 40 games last year in his junior season.
Maroon was the Phantoms' leading scorer through 8 games before being dismissed for what the organization termed as "behavioral issues" and "attitude problems." The Phantoms' head coach, Greg Gilbert, was fired almost 10 days after Maroon's dismissal.
Paddock, an AHL Hall of Fame Coach, has been at the helm since. The Phantoms have also added veterans Denis Hamel and Michael Ryan to the roster.
"Syvret has been around a little while," Holmgren said. "He will definitely add a veteran presence there."

I wish that they would trade all you useless moron fans. SUPREME ONE- Syvret is an AHL defenseman who keeps getting to dabble in the NHL game. He is a valuable player to have in an organization, if for no other reason than, people are always willing to trade for an offensively gifted dman. He adds skill to an AHL team, and can always be moved for a depth player for the NHL team. Hexy4GM
Trades for the farm team. Supreme one, typical back up singer for
the Supremes of the sixties abd seventies,go play bowling little girl! doublehook- The Phantoms have won a cool three games out of nineteen, dead last in the AHL. One hopes Mr. Holmgren will hold onto his first round pick and start rebuilding the farm system. It sure needs it. schultz8
Amen on that, Schultz. Kanayd
The emergence and progression of both Nodl and Wellwood have made Laliberte and Maroon expendable, plus Syvret has NHL experience and doesn't cost you much salary. phillysportsfan88
