Lineup decisions linger for tonight

Sergei Bobrovsky will make his 10th straight start in net tonight against the Ottawa Senators, as the Flyers try to push their undefeated-in-regulation streak to 9-0-1.

But Bobrovsky's status wasn't the question heading into Monday's morning skate.

Is Andreas Nodl healthy enough to stay in the lineup, after bruising his left big toe when blocking a shot in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Panthers?

"I'm still sore, it's not great," Nodl said.

When Nodl got hit with the shot, his toe went numb – and then swelled up as soon as his took his skate off for an x-ray.

"It kind of ballooned up on me," Nodl said. "It's gotten a lot better but it's still pretty sore. Yesterday, I could barely walk. Today, I am in skates. Maybe one more day is all I need."

It's hard to gauge what Peter Laviolette will do with the lineup.

"We'll make some decisions tonight," Laviolette said.

While Nodl looked a little tentative in the morning skate, the fact that he was skating means that he can play. They do, after all, have the magic of the cortisone shot.

Or, James van Riemsdyk can return for the first time after sitting out 4 straight games as a healthy scratch. He is anxious to get back in the lineup.

Nodl is riding a 4-game point streak, which was interrupted for two games by a shoulder injury a couple weeks ago.

"I hate this," Nodl said. "I'm feeling good on the ice. I hate getting injured and not playing. It sucks."

The interesting thing, though, is that Jody Shelley skated longer than any other player on Monday. Usually, that's an indication of a healthy scratch. I suppose a possibility remains that both Nodl and van Riemsdyk play against the Senators and Shelley is a healthy scratch.
