Leighton named NHL's Second Star

Flyers goaltender Michael Leighton was named the NHL's second star of the week for the week of Feb. 14.

Flyers goaltender Michael Leighton was named the NHL's second star among their 'Three Stars' for the week ending Feb. 14.

Leighton posted a 4-0-0 record and carried the Flyers to home-and-home sweeps against New Jersey and Montreal last week. He had a 1.98 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage in those four games, stopping 98 shots in all.

Leighton has a 12-3-1 record for the Flyers since being claimed off waivers from Carolina on Dec. 17.

Coincidentally, Dallas goaltender Marty Turco – who has been connected to the Flyers in recent trade rumors – was named the NHL's third star. Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos grabbed first star honors.

Chris Pronger (3rd star, week of Nov. 9) is the only other Flyer to be named one of the NHL's Three Stars of the week this season. James van Riemsdyk was the NHL's Rookie of the Month for December.
