Jeff Carter won't play vs. Flyers

POSTED: Wednesday, November 2, 2011, 12:58 PM

Jeff Carter's return to Philadelphia with Columbus will be quite a bit different than what Mike Richards experienced when he came back with the Los Angeles Kings.

Carter told the Columbus Dispatch that he will make the trip to see friends and former teammates, but that he definitely out for Saturday night's game.

Carter has a hairline fracture on the top of his right foot, suffered in mid-October. He had injured the bone in training camp and missed only a few days, but the re-occurence was cause for concern. He had X-rays Monday to see how the bone was healing.

"We're not going to put him in a game before he's ready just so he can play in Philadelphia," GM Scott Howson told the Dispatch this week.

That's too bad. I was kind of looking forward to some wide shots so the Flyers could have odd-man rushes.

Love him or hate him, and I was fairly neutral it does seem like he is cursed with the injury bug and that foot thing is becoming chronic it seems.

Well he is starting to sound like another former Flyer who has a foot issues...... but he will never ever be as good as that player was in his carrer. Idon't miss Cater playing like he wasn't there except for his goals but the lack of hard work makes him being the reason he is were he is now

Hey Carter, take a look at how the new #17 on the flyers plays hard each shift. Could have been you if all of the hair frosting had not damaged your brain and weakend your heart
