Officially, the Flyers are saying their leading goal scorer from the regular season is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. No shock. But Carter collided with 6-8 Buffalo defenseman Tyler Myers late in the first period on Wednesday and appeared to go knee-to-knee with Myers.
Both players briefly left the game. Myers was the only one to return.
Carter, who netted 36 goals this season, did not skate with the team’s scratches today and was not seen at the team’s training facility. He was limping badly leaving HSBC Arena on Wednesday.
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren denied a WIP report that Carter will be out 10 to 14 days with an MCL sprain.
Carter missed 11 playoff games last season when he broke a bone in his foot that required surgery during Game 4 of the first round against New Jersey. He missed the entire second-round matchup with Boston but returned for the end of the conference finals against Montreal.

Figures. The Guy disappears during the playoffs

Well doesn't that suck. Here's to hoping Ruff gets hit upside his dome piece with a another cup of ice. Go Flyers!! dianne16
Good, now someone who can hit, score and not just skate around the ice like a figure skater will get a chance to play. Jeff, take all the time you need to heal. knarfage
"both players briefly left the game. Myers was the only one to return." come on Frank. You are a better writer than Sam, act like it. If Carter didn't return at all, then he obviously didn't "briefly" leave the game. snipesmorris
they still carter in lineup . go flyers.... phillysportsnut
they still need carter in lineup . go flyers.... phillysportsnut
I am willing to bet if Homer could get Ryan(Ducks) or Kessel(Leafs) for Jeff Carter this summer, he will pull the trigger and do it. Romus
Dress Jody Shelley in his place - the way Carter has been playing there wouldn't be that much of an offensive drop off & it would be nice to see the Sabres at the bottom of some of these piles. (for a change) noname75
Blessing in disguise. Here's hoping the team shows it can win without him, and he gets dealt in the off-season. Carter is a fraud. UncleEddie

Yup. There is a god! Cya Carter…it's been real, ummm, lazy. springfish
i think he actually hurt the knee earlier in the game when he tried to nail a triple axle and landed on the puck. let shelley play. Matt from Iowa
How much does this guy get paid?? Times like this are when he earns it. Suck it up Carter and get yourself out there on the ice. dogman5
not glad he's hurt but can we hope it's addition by subtraction? great shot when the stars align but would have been nice to see Carter in the defensive end - rather than watching with disinterest from the neutral zone as the Sabres scored in game 4. raoool
not glad he's hurt but maybe addition by subtraction. yes, they'll miss the shot but his disinterested glance from the neutral zone as the Sabres scored the only goal of the game (4) is as much a reflection of his overall value. When one goal is winning games, EVERYBODY has to play a little D. Can't even get a little from Jeffy raoool
