Hat trick for Schenn in prospects scrimmage
Newly acquired Brayden Schenn scored three goals and added an assist as his Team White defeated Team Black, 6-3, in the Flyers' prospects scrimmage today at the SkateZone in Voorhees, N.J.
"It was our first game in about 2 months, so I didn't know what to expect going into it," Schenn said. "All I wanted to do is come in and work hard and I got a few breaks out there."
Schenn, who was acquired from the Kings as part of the Mike Richards trade, scored one of his goals on a penalty shot.
"He's just a bull on the puck," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. "He's strong on the puck, he makes good plays and he's a very competitive kid."
Schenn said: "I learned a lot of new things from Lappy [Ian Laperriere] and the rest of the development team. Now I'm going to go home for the summer and work on that and better myself."
Niko Hovinen, a 6-7 Finnish goalie, shut out Team Black in the first period.
