Flyers forward Scott Hartnell out indefinitely

Scott Hartnell missed practice on Wednesday, nursing a foot injury suffered in the third period of Tuesday's listless lost in New Jersey.

UPDATE (6:30 p.m.): Flyers forward Scott Hartnell will be out indefinitely with a left foot injury, according to general manager Paul Holmgren. Details on the injury are below. The Flyers, 0-3-0 to start the season for the first time since 1994-95, will already be without suspended forward Brayden Schenn and Danny Briere (wrist) on Thursday night against the Rangers.

Holmgren said the Flyers will know more in a day or two after receiving results from tests.

missed practice on Wednesday, nursing a foot injury suffered in the third period of Tuesday's listless lost in New Jersey.

Danny Briere, who is not expected back until the weekend at the earliest with a wrist injury, temporarily took Hartnell's place on his line with Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek in practice.

Hartnell took a Kimmo Timonen slap shot to his left foot with 6:53 remaining but still finished the game. He had an ice bag on his foot and was limping post-game.

Hartnell's status for Thursday's home contest against the Rangers is unknown. An update is expected from GM Paul Holmgren later in the day.

Also, defenseman Kurtis Foster was back at practice on Wednesday after missing Tuesday's game. The Flyers had all 7 defensemen on-ice on Wednesday.
