Game 7 preview

Fittingly, the Flyers’ first round series with Buffalo will end tonight - no matter who wins Game 7 at the Wells Fargo Center - with the same two goaltenders that started it.

Brian Boucher will start Game 7, but Sergei Bobrovsky will be his backup on the Flyers’ bench.

It will be Bobrovsky’s first game in a Flyers uniform since being pulled from Game 2.

In case you can’t remember the revolving circus in the Flyers’ net this series, let’s recap:

-Boucher started Game 3 in Buffalo with Michael Leighton as his backup.
-Boucher was yanked 15 minutes into Game 5 in Philadelphia after surrendering 3 goals. Leighton entered in relief and allowed the game-winner in overtime.
-Leighton started Game 6 in Buffalo on Sunday but Boucher entered to start the second period after Leighton gave up 3 goals in the first period.
-Boucher was named the Game 7 starter immediately after Game 6.

Still, Laviolette kept his backup decision for Game 7 a secret until this morning’s pre-game skate.

Bobrovsky and Boucher were the only two goalies on the ice, answering any lingering questions.

Key to Game 7: The Flyers have been outscored a combined 6-1 in the first period of the last two games. They can't afford to play from behind the entire game, as Ryan Miller is bound to shut the door once if he is spotted another big lead.

Stat of the Day: Courtesy of ESPN's John Buccigross: Since the start of the 2009 Stanley Cup playoffs, the road team has won 8 of the last 10 Game 7s. Both of the Flyers' last two Game 7s were played on the road, a win in Washington in the first round in 2008 and last year's Game 7 win in the second round in Boston.

And, since 1971, the Flyers and Sabres have met in the playoffs 9 times. This is the first Game 7 between the two clubs.
