The Flyers have placed defenseman Danny Syvret on waivers, general manager Paul Holmgren confirmed to the Daily News today.

Syvret spent the Olympic break on the Flyers' long-term injured reserve list with a Grade 3 shoulder separation sustained on Jan. 12.

Syvret said last week he had not yet fully healed and was unsure when he'd be able to return to the lineup.

The Flyers resume their post-Olympic schedule Tuesday night in Tampa Bay.

Syvret, who cleared waivers once before this season on Thanksgiving Day, scored the Flyers' only goal in the Winter Classic at Fenway Park on Jan. 1.

The move is a bit of a head scratcher since it isn't 100-percent clear that defenseman Ryan Parent, also on the long-term injured list, will be ready for Tuesday.

Since Syvret's $550,000 salary is a relatively small piece on the Flyers' $56.8 million cap, it's unlikely his move to waivers would be to clear space for a bigger picture move with Wednesday's NHL trade deadline looming.

All 29 teams have a shot to claim Syvret. If he clears waivers, he would likely be sent to AHL Adirondack.
