Flyers have new minor league affiliate

The Flyers have entered into a minor league affiliation agreement with the Greenville Road Warriors for the 2010-11 season, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

The Road Warriors, of the ECHL, will serve as the Flyers' secondary affiliate. Players under contract to the Flyers or the Adirondack Phantoms, their AHL affiliate, can be assigned to the Road Warriors. Greenville replaces the Kalamazoo Wings, the Flyers' ECHL affiliate last season.

"We are pleased to be working with Greenville for the upcoming season," Holmgren said in a statement. "[Team president and GM\ Neil Smith and [coach] Dean Stork both have a strong history of success, and we're confident they'll provide an environment that will help our prospects develop their potential."

Smith was president and GM of the New York Rangers from 1989 to 2000. The Rangers won the Stanley Cup in 1994.
