Flyers get set for Wings

As the Flyers get set to take on the Red Wings this afternoon before a national audience (12:30 p.m., NBC), they enter the Wachovia Center on the exact opposite path as Detroit.

The Red Wings, who have represented the Western Conference in each of the last two Stanley Cup Finals, are the hottest team in the NHL with an 8-0-2 record in their last 10 games.

The Flyers, well, you know their story.

They have been the league’s worst team over the past 10 games with a 2-6-2 record and just one win in their last eight games.

The Flyers didn’t get any help on Saturday, with wins coming from Montreal, Boston, New York and the Atlanta Thrashers even picked up a point.

Here are today’s standings:

6. Montreal (86 points), 3 games remaining
7. Boston (84 points), 4 games remaining
8. FLYERS (82 points), 4 games remaining

9. Rangers (82 points), 4 games remaining
10. Atlanta (81 points), 3 games remaining

The Flyers are the only team in the Eastern Conference hunt to play today, on Easter Sunday.

QUICK HITS: Dan Carcillo will return to the lineup after serving his two games suspension. That means Oskars Bartulis, who played wing on Friday, will be a healthy scratch and Ryan Parent will remain in the lineup, according to Peter Laviolette.
