Flyers add to roster

Gearing up for the playoff run, the Flyers will add seven players to their roster today.

Without any salary cap in the playoffs, the Flyers are free to re-call any player to their roster that was on their reserve list by the March 3 trade deadline.

Tomorrow, they will add seven players to their roster for their playoff run.

Forwards Jon Kalinski, Andreas Nodl and David Laliberte will join defensemen Kevin Marshall, Danny Syvret and Joonas Lehtivuori in the Flyers' locker room on Tuesday.

Goaltender Jeremy Duchesne will also re-join the team, in case Johan Backlund is not healthy enough to backup Brian Boucher in New Jersey on Wednesday.

Backlund said today he is feeling much better than he did over the weekend. Since the Phantoms' season ended on Saturday, general manager Paul Holmgren said he felt more comfortable having a third goaltender around for the playoffs, just in case.

Since Sebastien Caron was signed on April 2, Caron is not eligible to backup for Boucher during the playoffs.

Caron was packing his bags today at the Skate Zone and said he will return to his home in Quebec for the summer. Caron earned $25,906 for his 10 days on the Flyers' roster.

ALSO: Brian Boucher, Matt Carle, Jeff Carter, Danny Briere, Mike Richards, Chris Pronger, Kimmo Timonen and Ville Leino opted to skip practice today to rest after Sunday's thrilling, 2-1 shootout win over the Rangers.
