The Flyers have signed right wing Wayne Simmonds to a 2-year contract extension, the team announced. The deal is valued at $1.75 million per year.

The Flyers have signed right wing Wayne Simmonds to a 2-year contract extension, the team announced. The deal is valued at $1.75 million per year.

Simmons, 22, was acquired with forward Brayden Schenn and a second-round pick in the 2012 draft from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for center Michael Richards.

Simmonds recorded 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points. He has appeared in 240 games for the Kings over the past three seasons (2008-11), during which time he’s scored a total of 39 goals and 54 assists for 93 points while collecting 264 PIM.
