Flyers call up Harry Zolnierczyk to replace Tom Sestito

Who are you giving up on for Lent?
Chip Kelly -- Davis and Vick seem like bad calls to me.
The Flyers -- Does that ‘C’ on Giroux’s jersey stand for "cursed?"
The Sixers -- I gave up on them for Halloween.

TORONTO -- In search of a spark, the Flyers have recalled forward Harry Zolnierczyk from Adirondack.

The Flyers sent Sean Couturier, who missed Monday's game with the flu, back to Philadelphia to rest and recover.

According to the Glens Falls Post-Star, Zolnierczyk will meet the team in Winnipeg on Tuesday. The Flyers, reeling after a 5-1 thumping in Toronto on Monday, will face the Jets for an 8 o'clock puck drop at MTS Centre.

Zolnierczyk, 25, has 9 goals and 8 assists for 17 points in 46 games with the Phantoms. He is expected to replace Tom Sestito in the lineup.

Sestito was on the hook for a turnover in the second period on Monday which led to Colton Orr's go-ahead goal. No Flyers dropped the gloves in the 5-1 pounding against a Maple Leafs team which entered the game tied for the league lead in fighting majors.

Tuesday will be Zolnierczyk first game as a Flyer since April 7, 2012, when the speedy but feisty winger dropped the gloves against Pittsburgh. He played in 33 games with the Flyers last year.

The Flyers are 1-6-0 on the road, visiting the smallest and loudest building in the NHL, where Winnipeg has enjoyed a significant home-ice advantage since moving from Atlanta in 2011.

In order to make room for Zolnierczyk on the roster, the Flyers have placed Jody Shelley on the injured reserve list with a hip injury.

So Sestito gets two goals in one game, 2 games ago, gets a turnover, and gets sent down? Typical Lavy. WTF?

So a guy who gets 7 minutes of ice time a game is the reason the Flyers suck? Thanks for the brilliant conclusion, genius.

Yeah, Frank is not one for details. Why bother reporting the correct score? Really "hisses" me off, just like Frank said Giroux felt in his other article posted today.

The refs have targeted Rinaldo, and he gets called for penalties, whether deserved or not. Nor sure why he stays in the lineup as he provides zero offense.

Great, Replacing an AHL player with another AHL player, the past 2 seasons we traded away alot of solid depth in our fowards.. when you have a roster mostly full of AHL players and 3rd-4th line fowards, how good do you expect to be? LETS GO FLYERS.. turn it around!!!!

Its been thirty-plus years for the organisation to figure this out. They remain fixated on a certain type of player, and pursue them to the exclusion of everything else. Even when they acknowledge that the game has changed, in the end they allow themselves to be governed by their old prejudices, and overpay for a player who can't get the job done. Luckily for the fans old Ed hasn't got too many more "Next Season For Sure"'s left in him.

main liner....Rinaldo, according to NHL Official Stats fro ES/TOI/G is actually 6:54 minutes per game.....and he is our trouble! Maybe switch him to the first lie with Briere and Giroux will get out of his funk.
