Flyers call up Harry Zolnierczyk to replace Tom Sestito

In search of a spark, the Flyers have recalled forward Harry Zolnierczyk from Adirondack.

TORONTO -- In search of a spark, the Flyers have recalled forward Harry Zolnierczyk from Adirondack.

The Flyers sent Sean Couturier, who missed Monday's game with the flu, back to Philadelphia to rest and recover.

According to the Glens Falls Post-Star, Zolnierczyk will meet the team in Winnipeg on Tuesday. The Flyers, reeling after a 5-1 thumping in Toronto on Monday, will face the Jets for an 8 o'clock puck drop at MTS Centre.

Zolnierczyk, 25, has 9 goals and 8 assists for 17 points in 46 games with the Phantoms. He is expected to replace Tom Sestito in the lineup.

Sestito was on the hook for a turnover in the second period on Monday which led to Colton Orr's go-ahead goal. No Flyers dropped the gloves in the 5-1 pounding against a Maple Leafs team which entered the game tied for the league lead in fighting majors.

Tuesday will be Zolnierczyk first game as a Flyer since April 7, 2012, when the speedy but feisty winger dropped the gloves against Pittsburgh. He played in 33 games with the Flyers last year.

The Flyers are 1-6-0 on the road, visiting the smallest and loudest building in the NHL, where Winnipeg has enjoyed a significant home-ice advantage since moving from Atlanta in 2011.

In order to make room for Zolnierczyk on the roster, the Flyers have placed Jody Shelley on the injured reserve list with a hip injury.
