Flyers' Raffl has pneumonia

Flyers forward Michael Raffl has pneumonia.

Raffl, who practiced on Sunday, sat out Tuesday's practice and GM Ron Hextall revealed pneumonia set in on his "lower left lung" and he'll "be off the ice for a couple days."

Raffl, 26, hasn't played since Jan. 20 against Pittsburgh. He missed all three games following the All-Star break with the illness.

He hacked his way through practice - and interviews - on Sunday afternoon but still didn't sound great, even then. Raffl said he lost 10 pounds while limited mostly to watching television on his couch.

"I had something in my lungs, but it's getting better day-to-day," Raffl said Sunday. "I had an inflammation or an infection in my lungs. I lost weight and had a fever for a week. You can't each like normal and you lose a little weight."

Raffl also said "there's a way back and I'm going to find it."

The Flyers hit the ice again on Thursday when they host the Islanders, before embarking on a week-long, four-game road swing through Washington, Montreal, Columbus and Buffalo.
