Coburn latest injury victim

POSTED: Sunday, December 13, 2009, 3:46 PM

BOSTON – Just when it looks like the Flyers were only days away from being a nearly healthy team, another player goes down.

This time it’s Braydon Coburn.

Coburn was seen walking around the TD Garden at Sunday morning’s Flyers practice in a walking boot. He told us that it was just an ankle sprain and that he injured it Saturday night against the Devils.

It must be a little more serious than he is letting on. Coburn left Boston to head back to Philadelphia to see team doctors.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said that until the Flyers can figure out what is wrong with Coburn, the team will list him as day-to-day.

One thing is certain: Coburn will not play on Monday night here against the Bruins.

Ole-Kristian Tollefsen will play his first game since Nov. 7, when he left the game against St. Louis with a mild concussion. He has been healthy for the last four or five weeks, often doing extra workouts after practice.

A few of the Flyers toured Fenway Park in the rain on Sunday, getting a peek at where the ice surface is being built and the visitors and Red Sox’ clubhouses.

No big deal since he's playing like an AHLer lately. Man, what happened to this dude? He looked so promising 2 and 3 seasons ago.

Who cares. The dude sucks, and so does this entire squad. Once we get these guys out of McFadden's each night we will win some hockey games.

He looked pretty promising to begin this season too. What happened to injure it, yet another uncalled trip or slash? There's a reason the Flyers are consistently one of the most injured teams in the league, and it doesn't have anything to do with the training staff.

As part of the Flyers new Santa Sack, you get to dress as Flyers 6th defensman, and the Flyers will pay you $100

Hopefully Laviolette will see what its like to play a couple games without him and they'll move Parent down to play with Timmo. Then, they should promote one of their prospects to compete for the sixth spot. They have to stop the bleeding, and this is one of the biggest wounds.

My granny can play better hockey than Coburn. Put him on long term IR and bring someone else in. Hell, at this point put the whole team except Boosh, Giroux, JVR and Pronger on LTIR and bring in the Phantoms. They might lose every game but at least they'll play like they care.
