Carcillo suspended 2 games
Flyers forward Dan Carcillo was handed a two game suspension by the NHL today for his high stick on Devils enforcer David Clarkson.

And NHL's dean of discipline, Colin Campbell, didn't buy it.
Carcillo was suspended for two games by the NHL today, following a noon hearing with the NHL's discipline committee.
Carcillo received a match penalty and game misconduct with 4:34 remaining in Sunday's win over New Jersey for high-sticking Devils enforcer David Clarkson above the eye. Clarkson needed three stitches to close the wound.
"I didn't mean to do it. But knowing me, I'll probably be suspended," Carcillo predicted on Sunday night after the hit.
A match penalty, given for intent to injure, requires a mandatory hearing before the penalized player is permitted to play in another NHL game.
"I am disappointed in this decision by the league office," Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said. "This was clearly an accidental high stick and I do not believe a match penalty [for intent to injury] was the call that was warranted."
This is Carcillo's fourth suspension in the last two seasons. He was given four games earlier this season for prematurely punching Washington's Matt Bradley on Dec. 5. Carcillo was also thrown the book for a Nov. 2008 fight against Ben Eager while a member of the Phoenix Coyotes and for one game of the Flyers' playoff series last year with Pittsburgh for punching Max Talbot.
As a repeat offender, Carcillo will forfeit more of his salary than a first-time offender. He will forfeit $21,798.78 in salary, based on the number of games in the season (82), rather than the number of days (193). The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
