Briere faces discipline for crosscheck
Danny Briere will have a conference call tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the NHL discipline committee to discuss a possible suspension for his stickwork on the Islanders' Frans Neilsen in the final minute of the Flyers' 6-1 win last night.
Briere and Neilsen were jawing prior to a faceoff and after the puck was dropped Briere went to Neilsen's face with his stick. He was called for a cross-check major and then given a game misconduct.
That led to a lot of pushing and shoving between both teams and included a game misconduct for Dan Carcillo.

Supposedly, Nielson had said something to Danny about his car accident this past summer. If this is true then I applaud Briere and even wish Briere would have done something before the faceoff, his child could have died in that accident. southpaw26

This is the lead story on the website? Jeeeeez.......slow news night or what? jibberjabber
I have no prob with Briere missing a game or two, but please explain to me how Trent Hunter is not facing suspension for a boarding major that could have broke Mezaros neck? efgold- 2 games.
Briere was wrong and maybe he will get a game but refs are the real problem. Things were getting out of control with Konopka and than that idiot Gillies. Not to mention DP that could not stop a single puck was trying to act like a tough guy. I am sure all Flyers wanted to do is fight after leading 6:1. What a joke. Nitroglycerin
