Briere out vs. Rangers
Flyers forward Danny Briere will not play in today's game against the Rangers because of what general manager Paul Holmgren termed lower body soreness.
Briere, second on the team in points, is listed as day-to-day, Holmgren said.
This is the first game Briere will miss due to injury this season. He previously was suspended for three games in November.
The Flyers have four games remaining in the regular season over the next 7 days -- today against the Rangers, Tuesday in Ottawa, Friday in Buffalo and Saturday in the regular-season finale at home against the Islanders.
With Washington's win last night, the Flyers have fallen out of first place in the Eastern Conference for the first time since Jan. 4.

Last night, the Flyers recalled defenseman Danny Syvret from Adirondack, of the AHL. He will be available to play today.

rest up for the big show Inchon
inchon - there is no resting now. that time came and went. we need the 1 seed and we are in a dog fight. we are in a total freefall right now jsavino
Death spiral at this point, this has been brutal to watch. 180 degree different feeling from LY. iamwino
I'd say "need" the 1 seed is a bit strong. They need to finish ahead of Pitts for sure, they're likely going to be 2nd or higher come end of year regardless. What they NEED is to find some rhythm and confidence and start firing on all cylinders come next week. They face two bottom feeder teams, and two others, one of which they are likely to catch in the first round. Great chance to get things crankin'! toph314
This team forgot how to win. Lazy in our own zone. Bad pickups on their defensive resposibilities. No leadership and I don't care what anyone say's. They deserve to drop to 4th so we don't have to hear how a #8 seed beat the #1 seed. Pathetic excuses for hockey players. What happened about that bad taste in their mouths after last season's lost to the Blackhawks? I want the Flyers to win but lets be real- 1 and done. Iceman65
Right now its hard to see the Flyers doing much in the playoffs. All these crucial losses down the stretch have hurt the Flyers confidence. The trade for Versteeg has not helped. Richards has been a terrible disappointment in the 2nd half of this year. The team just cant score goals at home. Even in the wins vs. Pitt and the Islanders we had this week, we were out shot and outskated for large stretches of the game.. Good luck boys..you're gonna need it. bradco
Iceman don't watch then since you already know one and done.... any of you want to admit that last year you were hating on the flyers too??? Stick with your team you annoying haters! #1 over all seed has one the stanley cup, 7 times, thats all... get over it. fman727
They haven't been playing up to their capability, but once the playoffs start, it's a new season. Don't forget how one game or one series can change the confidence of the team and fans like iceman. mikeyhigs
Today versus the bluskirts we will prove we are a team that can turn it on when need be. 5-2 Flyers win! Fabulous
I LOVE when fans talk about last season like some kind of "magic" happened, forgetting the 30+ years of failure that came before it. That's not "magic," it's just how probability works. The Flyers have been unfocused and lazy for 6 weeks. Absent the "magic" of beating 1-in-30 odds, they are toast in the early rounds. LtAnger
This is no way to go into the playoffs. Out in the first round. Joe at the shore
Watch out for them Rangers, looks like there Peaking. And dont forget
Pittsburg. frank martino
