Boucher starting tonight

MONTREAL – Brian Boucher will start in net tonight for the Flyers as they try to win for just the second time in nine games when they take on the Canadiens (7:30 p.m.) here at the Bell Centre.

"Ray started the last game," new head coach Peter Laviolette said on Monday after the Flyers' morning skate at the Bell Centre. "Tonight we're going to go with Boosh. Like I said, we're going to use both goaltenders."

Laviolette said that "no one played a particularly good hockey game" on Saturday and that Emery allowing five goals on 17 shots is not the reason he isn't starting.

It's also not the "nagging" injury that Laviolette revealed Emery has been dealing with. Laviolette wouldn't say where the injury is and said that "every player goes through bumps and bruises."

It looks like Emery has been receiving treatment on his right hand, as it is usually wrapped after practice.

Boucher, meanwhile, played well in both of his last starts but didn't receive any scoring help in front of him. He allowed four goals in his last two starts, giving up only one to the league's most potent offense in Atlanta.

In Monday's high tempo skate, Laviolette mixed up the lines a little bit – swapping Claude Giroux and Danny Briere.

Riley Cote will also be inserted into the lineup in place of Dan Carcillo, who is serving the first game of his four game suspension.

Homecoming for Lappy
While Ian Laperriere enjoyed his stops in Colorado and Los Angeles, one thing he missed while playing in the Western Conference were the stops in Montreal to play the Canadiens.

Laperriere, a Montreal native, said that he was born and raised a "Canadiens fan at heart." He was able to have dinner with friends on Sunday night and breakfast with his family and parents Monday morning.

"That's the good thing about being in East," Laperriere said. "But the bad thing is that it's going to cost me a little more in tickets. It's all good. I had a chance to meet my niece, who is three months old, for the first time. It's something special to be in Montreal. This town lives for the Montreal Canadiens. All of the guys [on the Flyers] realize that."

He said his new teeth - the replacements for the seven that were knocked out after he took a slap shot to the face on Black Friday - were set to arrive on Wednesday. Then, he said, he can "resume" his "modeling career.

"I'll be pretty like I was."
