Homer: Pronger will not play tonight
UPDATE: General manager Paul Holmgren, who earlier in the day said Chris Pronger was fine, announced Monday night that the star defenseman will not play in Game 2.
He said Jeff Carter, Andreas Nodl and Michael Leighton are all day-to-day
FROM EARLIER: Chris Pronger did not participate in today's morning skate and his availability for tonight's game is cloudy. Coach Peter Laviolette deferred comment to general manager Paul Holmgren, who was not at the Wells Fargo Center. It's unclear whether his absence was injury-related and a team spokesman said an update would be coming from Homer at some point soon.
Laviolette did say that Brian Boucher was starting in net for tonight's Game 2 against the Bruins. Boucher gave up five goals in Saturday's loss, but Laviolette said tonight was about redemption for the entire team, which includes his goaltender.
The post-practice locker room was abuzz with talk of the assassination of Osama Bin Laden. James van Riemsdyk, who grew up 45 minutes from Ground Zero, said his home of Middletown, N.J., lost several people during the Sept. 11 attacks.
"One of my good friends' dad passed away that day. It was a sad day and a lot of good people died that day," said van Riemsdyk, who was 12 at the time. "To see (Bin Laden) finally brought to justice makes you proud to be an American."

Have to admit, I'm getting pretty sick of Pronger. It's that time.. lace 'em up! drbob1
@brio, my sentiments exactly. How Lavi does not use his last change to get the Richards' line on the ice against that Krecji/Lucic line is beyond comprehension. I hate Pierre McGuire with a passion. But he was right on with his surprise and downright annoyance over the fact that they allowed that line to run rampant against the 3rd and 4th lines. They didn't even attempt the match-up until it was 4-1, and by that time, the tipping point had been reached. Also, what the hell happened to Matt Carle? This guy has just been brutal...Every time the other team scores, who's on the ice, Carle. It also doesn't help that there was pretty much no back side pressure from the forwards and no attempt to box out the attacking Bruins guys going for the rebounds. Just a total failure. Matchups, aggressiveness, game plan, defense, goalie; you name it, they were all bad. flyrzfan1978
Now, now children. Settle down. Almost time for recess. eagle1971
Hartnell fights Chara tonight. Flyers tighten up. 1 major player on the Bruins goes down from a Richards hit and Flyers win 6-3. And O'Donnell scores to tie the series 1-1. MichaelZoe
Flyers should pull their goalie for the first 5 mins and skate with an extra attacker because they'll going to get scored opn anyway. Maybe they can get a goal out of it. the Guffaw- Love this idea! It might actually work.

- Hmm MAYBE we should dress Bob in Boosh's jersey and Boosh in Leighton's jersey. This way the Bruins wont know who they're shooting at! GENIUS ! ps Im available for hire @Flyers organization :D
