The plan to write-in Claude Giroux to the All-Star Game has been successful through the first week of voting.

Surprisingly, another Flyer - rookie netminder Sergei Bobrovsky - has overtaken Giroux in the write-in category.

Bobrovsky and Giroux are 2nd and 3rd, respectively, among write-in candidates according to the NHL, which released the latest statistics on Tuesday.

The All-Star Game is on Jan. 30 in Raleigh, N.C., and will feature a new format this year that includes captains choosing the sides in pick-up game style. The NHL’s Hockey Operations department will decide the 37 other All-Stars, but through voting, fans will decide the 5 starters.
