Frank,
Do you think Philadelphia has a chance of hosting the NHL All-Star Game in the next few years? Thanks for your time.

Eddie,
Thanks for the note. Yes, I believe the Flyers have a chance of hosting an All-Star Game in the next few years. They have been very vocal about wanting to host league-wide events like that. I'd bet that before that happens, though, they will have already hosted a Winter Classic and Draft in the summer before they get that. I get the sense that the league wants to create excitement with the ASG in cities that aren't doing so hot. That's why Ottawa has the game next January.

Frank,
It seems to me the fighters on the minor league team are as big an embarrassment as the parent team. Shelley, in most of his fights, looks like Dale Rolfe getting creamed by the Hammer in game 7. This team desperately needs a great fighter to become an all around elite hockey team.

Jim,
Good to hear from you. Honestly, I think Shelley is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the league. More importantly, as I outlined in a couple of stories yesterday, he knows when to fight and he also does a great job of protecting his teammates to make sure they aren't taken advantage of. You should really see his personality inside the locker room. I am convinced that he is a big reason they've had such good chemistry, he seems to be friendly with everyone and is always very concerned about the team's overall health. Honestly, I think he is a great addition, even if everyone thinks his salary cap hit is a little high.

Frank,
Any Word on a possible goalie? Maybe [Tomas] Vokoun. Bob is looking shaky at best and Boosh is what he is, a journeyman. I really think Homer needs to get an experienced goalie for the cup run.....thoughts?
-Dave Dejohn

Dave,
Interesting question. In my opinion, I don't see Paul Holmgren making any sort of move this season at the trade deadline. I think you have to start asking – if they are still rolling at Feb. 28 – whether any sort of change will shake up the team's chemistry in a bad way. The only thing they may need, I think, is another scoring winger. Preferably a rental that can leave for another team once free agency starts on July 1. They are a very solid team. I think they're fine in net, too. Bobrovsky looks like he's regained his form and Boucher's had his all along this season. With the deep defense they have in front of the crease, I'm not sure Vokoun would do much better in net.
