Jeff Carter's return to Philadelphia with Columbus will be quite a bit different than what Mike Richards experienced when he came back with the Los Angeles Kings.
Carter told the Columbus Dispatch that he will make the trip to see friends and former teammates, but that he definitely out for Saturday night's game.
Carter has a hairline fracture on the top of his right foot, suffered in mid-October. He had injured the bone in training camp and missed only a few days, but the re-occurence was cause for concern. He had X-rays Monday to see how the bone was healing.
With Danny Briere and Matt Read sitting out practice on Tuesday – and his team set to take on Buffalo on Wednesday night – the Flyers made a few pre-emptive roster moves to carry extra forwards.
Harry Zolnierczyk and Ben Holmstrom were re-called from Adirondack on Tuesday and skated with the team before departing for Western New York.
This is Holmstrom’s first re-call of the season. Zolnierczyk has now been up and down twice, having scored his first NHL goal on Oct. 18 in Ottawa.
