I wonder what’s going through Michael Vick’s head about now. He’s at the stadium, but can’t be on the sideline or in the locker room because the Eagles have him on the exempt list. Fox cameras showed Vick standing in a box one row behind Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie.
While the early word from the Eagles is that Donovan McNabb suffered a rib injury when he was hit by Charles Johnson after scoring a touchdown midway through the third quarter, there’s no word on how serious an injury it is or what McNabb’s prognosis is moving forward. Vick can’t play until Week Three against Kansas City. If McNabb is out for that game, Vick could be in.
Kevin Kolb has now led four unsuccessful series, and he’s been shaky at best. He’s 6 of 10 for 17 yards and has two fumbles (one bounced out of bounds, one the Panthers recovered). If McNabb is out for an extended period of time – and it’s impossible to know just yet – Kolb hasn’t done anything to prove he’s the hands-down starter. Next week, sure, but only because Vick can’t play.
