Why we're not getting In-N-Out Burger here anytime soon

POSTED: Tuesday, February 26, 2013, 1:03 PM

The owner of In-N-Out Burger - the California-based fast-food chain with a cult following - is a hot-rod-racing, thrice-married, 30-year-old mother of twins.

Lynsi Torres, whom Bloomberg dubbed the youngest female billionaire in the country, happened to have the great fortune to be the granddaughter of In-N-Out's founders. She inherited the company after her grandmother died in 2006.

"Since In-N-Out restaurants do not have any freezers or microwaves, every new location must be within a short distance of its Baldwin Park [Calif.] or Dallas distribution facilities," writes the Orange County Register in a great profile.

There are 281 locations, all in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Texas.

This, coupled with In-N-Out's slow growth and Torres' youth, means we'll probably be deprived of double-doubles forever.

Why can't we get El Pollo Loco. Charbroiled chicken that is popular on the West Coast. Guess healthy chicken will never sell in this area. If isn't breaded and deep fried no one in Philly will eat it.

I love El Pollo Loco. I wish they would come to the East Coast too. And Dell Taco.

WE HAVE A WINNER! For most absurdly stupid anti-Philly comment in the history of this website!
So Philadelphia not getting a fast food chain location is reason to pack up and leave? It's not even something leaving, it's just not coming here. The city is not losing a thing with this place not coming here. It's just not gaining another fast food joint.
You know what else isn't coming here? The Empire State Building. The Great Pyramids are also not coming here. The Pacific Ocean isn't coming here. Are those also reasons to leave?

Since leaving California 7 years ago, I really miss those double double with cheese. I really wish they would come to the east coast but I know I will never see it in my lifetime. Drew777, El Pollo Loco is awesome. That is another thing I miss about the left coast.
