Zagat is out with a guide to what it calls the best burgers in 12 neighborhoods.
"Debates about who serves the best burger can get more heated than arguments over politics," writes Zagat's Danya Henninger.
Well, yeah. Why else to do a "best-of" list if not to generate controversy web clicks.
South Street is represented by Supper. One could argue that the burger from Copabanana or Ishkabibble is superior.
Rittenhouse? Village Whiskey's signature burger - Zagat's choice for that neighborhood - gets lots of press. As does newcomer Shake Shack's. One could also argue that Good Dog's is No. 1.
And so it goes.

I'll never know who, besides me, makes the best burger. Try the recipe for sliders on the KFC website. They were great!
At $20 per burger at these restaurants it better be Kobe beef on the bun. The only people who can afford them are city employees.— MODEREATER
I understand the scope of your listings...but for everyday great burgers "Five Guys" is a welcome addition to any neighborhood.— TomTheCork- In my opinion the Lucky Old Souls burger truck makes the best burgers in town. High end ingredients and excellent combinations.— Dugan1
- Sketch on East Girard Ave has great burgers. But lets be serious, a burger is pretty much a burger. Any bar/pub worth going to has very good burger. There might be slight inconsistencies in taste, texture and what kind of bun the establishment uses but it's pretty much all the same to me, especially when I'm drunk.— mundiff

- I agree with most of the comments here. These burgers look great, but $15+ for a burger? I'd much rather spend $5 on a burger from Buddy's or 5 Guys and the left over $10 on a couple of beers. Those prices are ridiculous!— Big_Ben45

- Burgers are all the same? Really? The choice of the bun alone can make or break a burger. The reverse snobbery on Philly news is in play. A place that offers anything that cost more than fast food is overly fancy, blahblahblah. Five guys is weak so stop touting it. The burgers at most of these places are in no way drowned with additonal ingredients as one poster suggests(I suggest you get out a little nmore). Remember it is real culinary chefs who bring the "simple but best ingredient" mantra to the whole restaurant scene so you are way off the mark. As for the poster who says the article is a waste. what do you suggest a FOOD COLUMNIST write about, loser? I hate working class snobs with there acute sense of racism, classism and sheer stupidity. Here is a clue- you are working class because you are not as smart as the people who have moved above that into jobs that pay a lot more. You should be emulating the people that you so love to make fun of instead of mocking them. Their kids are smarter than yours, will get better jobs, and live longer, healthier lives; but other than that, you have it all sewn up. Have some more McDolnalds so the rest of us won't have to be paying for you when you are 80. The only thing I like about most of you is that you vote for dudes like Romney so your wife has to keep coming over and cleaning my hosue and your kids get to fetch me food. What a life. Remember to vote Republican in 2016 so I can keep writng off expenses and not paying taxes!(sorry but working class people don't get write-offs so you get to pay 28% to my 13% and I love it.)
As for the columnist who claims that a frozen burger(Ishkibbibles) could be considered as good as....what exactly?
