Know π?

That magic number that we shorten to 3.14159?

Shorten it further to 3.14 and you have Friday's date.

So shops that sell pie - get it? - are hosting specials:

South Street West's Magpie will discount slices of its signature pie - butterscotch bourbon - from $5.25 to $3.14.

Pizzeria Vetri on Callowhill Street near 20th is selling tomato pie slices for $3.14.

Day by Day, the Rittenhouse bruncherie, will put out a whole slew of pies, including Chocolate Stout, Lemon Pandan Meringu, Gluten Free Peanut Butter, Blood Orange w/Pistachio Crumble, Pear Almond Mascarpone, Beet Sour Cream, Vegan Grape Fig and Bacon Crack.

Bacon Crack Pie?

Oh, yeah. The crust is an oatmeal and bacon pastry and the filing is a gooey brown sugar confection, with more bacon.
