Jan. 21 is a snow day. Unless you need food, or work at a bar or restaurant.
It's Center City District Restaurant Week, so the participants are being encouraged to stay open.
We encourage you to be safe. Don't drive unnecessarily, watch your step, don't take any wooden nickels, etc.
Here are the specials and info we've encountered, primarily at local spots:
London Grill: Fight the freeze in Fairmount at this neighborhood favorite with $4 Stoudt’s Willie Sutton amber lagers all day.
Slice pizza: 20 percent off pizzas for pickup
Pennsylvania 6: Spend the snow day in retro luxury at this Wash West bar with $3 Yards beers and $5 glasses of bubbly and hot toddies.
Bottle Bar East: Battle the chill with a hearty sandwich at this Fishtown pub — you'll score a $1 Philadelphia Brewing Kenzinger with every order.
Sassafras: $3 Brooklyn Brewery lager, $5 Hot Apple Cider (choice of spirit) and $5 Smoking Bishops
Jake's Sandwich Board (122 S.12th St,.) will take 10 percent off its pork sandwiches for every inch of snow that falls. The shop expects to close about 6 p.m.
Tap Room on 19th: Kitchen open till 1 a.m. and it's $2.00 Taco Tuesday.
Jet Wine Bar: Stop by Jill Weber’s South Street West enclave for a Kenzinger combo deal: a bottle of the PBC lager plus a bowl of beef chili or crock of mac ‘n’ cheese will run you just $9 today.
Brew: In Newbold, this bottle-shop-slash-taproom is running a special where all draft pours are just $4. Option include Founders All day IPA and Commonwealth Ginger Cider.
Verdad: If you’re out and about in Bryn Mawr, duck into Nick Farina’s tequila bar for $3 margaritas all day. Pair them with $2 tacos and settle in for the duration.
Cedar Point Bar & Kitchen: Rye will take the edge off at this Fishtown tavern, where Sazeracs are going for $5 all day and night.
Kennett: From the 4 p.m. opening onward, this cozy Queen Village dining room is offering all beer and wine by the glass at half price.
City Tap House: Warm up in West Philly’s own lodge on the second floor of the Radian building with $5 spiked hot chocolates and $4 local craft drafts.
Rex 1516: An upgraded citywide special awaits on South Street West, where a shot of Rittenhouse rye, a pint of Philadelphia Brewing Newbold IPA and the burger of the week - a patty melt, topped with caramelized onions, pickles and three cheeses (swiss, gruyere and fontina), on sourdough - will go for $15 total.
PYT: Northern Liberties denizens can score half off all winter seasonals at Tommy Up’s colorful burger joint in The Piazza. Also look for $1 shots and $3 Bloody Marys.
