Things are looking up at Reading Terminal Market

POSTED: Thursday, March 21, 2013, 10:45 AM

"Food Chain," an art installation by Alex Stadler of stadler-Kahn at 1724 Sansom St., now hangs over the center court seating area in Reading Terminal Market.

Stadler was commissioned by the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp. as the first "curator for the city of Philadelphia" in its "With Art Philadelphia" program, designed to highlight the region's makers and keepers of art.

"Food Chain" is a large-scale, 60-foot-long papier mache depiction of food - specifically, items that you can purchase in the market. This show was commissioned just in time for the opening Flower Show weekend

It's on the list of what I tell my friends coming to town for conferences at the Convention Center to go see it. That and Alex's store and the Navy Yard and all the kniting stores in town.

Does this mean that they got rid of the rats and mice and cleaned it up? (I mean the animals, not the people.)
