Those who served will get served.

The nation's food industry pays tribute to veterans and active military personnel for Veterans Day by proffering free or discounted meals.

Be sure to call first, as participation may vary.

Among those we've found:

Applebee's: Free entree Monday, Nov. 11.

Bennigan's: Deals vary among restaurants; chainwide, it offers 10% discounts (excluding alcohol) all the time.

Bob Evans: Free all-you-can-eat pancakes on Monday, Nov. 11.

Boston Market: Show military ID on Monday, Nov. 11 and receive a free whole chicken with the purchase of a family meal.

California Pizza Kitchen: A free pizza on Monday, Nov. 11.

Carrabba's: A free appetizer offered Nov. 9-11. ID is required.

Champps Americana: Free burger and fries on Monday, Nov. 11.

Denny's: Free all-you-can-eat pancakes from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.

Einstein Bros. Bagels: Free bagel and shmear from 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.

Fox & Hound: Free burger on Monday, Nov. 11.

Friendly's: Free breakfast on Monday, Nov. 11.

Golden Corral: 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11. Free meal to anyone who has served in the U.S. military or is on current active duty. No ID required.

Hooters: Free meal, up to $10.99, with any drink purchase on Monday, Nov. 11.

Krispy Kreme: Free doughnut and small coffee (no drive-through) on Monday, Nov. 11.

Little Caesars: Free crazy bread on Monday, Nov. 11.

Max & Erma's: Free cheeseburger, salad or soup, and chocolate chip cookie on Monday, Nov. 11.

McCormick & Schmick's: Free meal from a special menu on SUNDAY, NOV. 10. Military ID is required.

Olive Garden: Free entree from a special menu on Monday, Nov. 11; family gets 10% off the bill.
