Stock in Fishtown opens for lunch

Three salads, one banh mi.

Stock - the snug, upmarket Viet-inspired BYO at 308 E. Girard Ave. in Fishtown - starts lunch Thursday, April 16.

It will be served Thursday, Friday and Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Stock's regular hours are noon to 8 p.m. weekends, and Stock also serves dinner Thursday through Monday (in other words, it's closed Tuesday and Wednesday).

There's an asterisk, though, in the lunch plans. Almost right away, chef Tyler Akin will take a week off, so you can get it April 16 and April 17 but not again till Monday, April 27.

Like everything else, the lunch menu is utterly simple:

  1. Snow Peas, watercress, roasted garlic rice wine vinaigrette, roasted winter melon seeds (vegan), $8

  2. Thai green papaya: long beans, tomato, tamarind, dried shrimp, $11

  3. Viet green papaya: Rau ram, fish sauce, lime juice, thai chili, peanut, $8

  4. Kaffir lime chicken banh mi with pork sausage or, to make it, vegan tofu, $10
