South Street Spring Festival: Even bigger this year

Mark down May 3 for South Street Spring Festival, the all-ages block party, return for a celebration of all things South Street Headhouse District.

This year's festival will start an hour earlier, at 11 a.m., and run till 8 p.m., as it closes down South Street (between Front and 8th), and along the Second Street Plaza (between South and Lombard).

At least 30 restaurants, bars and food trucks will be out there, as well as crafters, artists and retailers, and Brauhaus Schmitz will host the second annual German Maifest on the 700 block of South, with German beers, dancers, music, food, flower headbands and a May pole.

Three performance stages will be set up - up one from last year - and there will be eight other performance ares.
