More than three dozen restaurants - including Garces Trading Co., Taqueria Feliz, Primo Hoagies and Fat Jack's BBQ - will compete in the Great Sandwiches Event, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at Union Transfer.

Organizer City Paper also has corraled a dozen vendors offering tastings of beer, wine, rum and hard cider plus desserts, as well as a cookoff featuring Fork/High Street's Eli Kulp, South Philly Tap Room/American Sardine Bar's Scott Schroeder, and Amis' Brad Spence.

Part of the proceeds will go to Philabundance, and patrons are encouraged to bring canned goods as donations to the food charity.

It's $35 a ticket. Details are here.
